Visting Korea

WELCOME to Rodeo Drive, some of the most expensive land in Korea. This is pretty much where all the big brand name sellers sell their shit, so everything is expensive. I bought my cousin a hat for her birthday, which was priced at 150,000won. Accompanied are pictures of various parts of Rodeo Drive.














So, hopefully you get a sense at how awesome this place is.

After this, I went to a bookstore, where they withheld me from taking pictures, so I'll just say that I scouted what manhwa I'm going to buy tomorrow.

Alrighty, today I didn't really plan anything, but my grandmother asked me to help her with her shopping, so I decided to be a good grandson and do so.



What a beautiful morning. Days are always nice in the summer after a nice long raining session(taking a taxi). I've set a course to eat breakfast before helping my grandparent.






Today was a chicken eating day in Korea, as today is supposedly the day when the heat starts to stave off, and every year, Koreans eat chicken on this day. Oh look~ a wishbone.




This is the outdoors fish market, in which many women and men haggle stuff and get money. It sells much more than just fish, of course. Following are some examples of what IS being sold.

Well, after that, I didn't really do much worth mentioning, so let me entertain you with random pictures I took while driving (no joke). Well, I DID go back to my house, so I could watch anime in peace without my cousins around. Going back to their house tomorrow night, as I promised I would take them and my baby cousins(other side of family) to a water park.

Lots of neon lights. Keep in mind, these lights do NOT go off during the day, wasting lots of energy. However, it makes for a stunning spectacle at nighttime :)


Well, I imagine that was a rather dull update. I promise things will get better in a few days, haha. :D

Well well well... today I decided to go with my friends and water-skii/wake board.




Another beautiful day! Oh wait, what the hell?


Some grandpa is riding a wheelchair... on the street. Oh Korea, you never fail to amuse me.


So, I set off for a 2 hours ride to the waterskii place, with my cousins in tow! Exciting things lurk around the corner!

And here we are, at the water-skii dock! In this city, there are plenty of these things around, and they provide entertainment for the measly masses. Including myself. Should demand be high, I will supply a video of me wakeboarding successfully(on my first try).

Anyways, after driving another half-hour, I came across an awesome restaurant. Pictures are as follows:

Here's a little tidbit of information. In Korea, nearly every town has a "specialty" food. In Busan's case, it is sashimi(sushi). In this town, it is eel. In Chuncheon, it is spicy chicken. So, I found it only fitting to eat eel at a town that specializes in it.


Overall, one of the most fun days I've had in a while. :)


Oh, and forgot to mention:

We Koreans eat the spine of the unagi as well. It tastes like crackers, to be honest.

Well, I'm off to bed, as I'm tired by this day of driving and water enemas(one of the water tubes I rode after wake-boarding & skiiing pretty much forced water up my ass).

Not going to update too much, as I did not have too much time to take any pictures, as I was way too busy enjoying my time with my cousins. Let it be known that today, I had much fun.

WELCOME TO EVERLAND!!
This park is pretty much Korea's Disneyland. Fun rides and shit. It also has a waterpark, which is pretty much the only part the locals visit in the summer days.




The ticket entrance. Much line waiting here. Especially more painful as my cousins decided to load me with their luggage. Keep it mind, it is painfully hot and humid in Korea.




Caribbean Bay's wave pool. If you've been to any wave pools before, you already know the procedure. Spent most of my day here, trying to best the waves.

So, after about 7 hours of harsh sun, waves, splashing, wild cousins, I decide to have a snack before I gather all the stuff up to leave.

Buttered toasted squid... mmmmmm..


Anyways, off to sleep, as I'm aching and dying.

This is the day I started this epic journey.
First, I went to my grandfather's house(in Yang-guu), to check up his house's progress. He is currently building a retirement home for him and my grandmother, and plans to give the house to me once he has passed away. At his old age, you can imagine how hot it is working in blazingly hot conditions around 12 hours a day.
My cousin took the majority of these pictures, as I was driving 90% the time.



Annoying ass road up to my grandfather's. We Koreans like to call these kind of roads Behm No-lee, literally: "Snake Play".




Many tunnels, as this area is dense with forest and mountains. This particular one was 2.4 km long.




I found this funny. This sign reads "If you come to Yang-guu, you get younger by 10 years." They say this because, being in the countryside, this area is far from the pollutants of the city, and thus, has healthier air.




Leftmost is where my grandfather&mother make their stay while building their house.




Apparently people here worship tractors. Probably on account of the huge use it is in the country.




Truly is the countryside.

Another cool tidbit:

If you look closely, you can see that the mountain range is shaped like a dragon(head to the leftmost). My grandfather picked this site for that reason.





This island is said to be shaped like Korea's peninsula. In the second picture, there is a little tiny island off the island, attached to it by a bridge. This is supposed to represent Jejudo(famous Korean resort island).

Well, after this, I left Yang-guu, and started towards Busan(major beach resort city, happens to be 6.5 hours away). There was a rather comedic sign as I left that read "If you return to Yang-guu, you will get younger again!"

Finally got to my hotel(2am) in Busan! I fell asleep almost immediately (the rest of the group got to sleep on the floor, since I was being an ass and sleeping sideways across the bed (:<)

Now, you may be wondering "what the fuck up with the tubes"? Well, you pretty much just take the tubes and go in the water. Which my friends and I gladly took advantage of.


This is also the site of the filming of the tsunami movie "Haeundae"





After playing around in Busan for a while, we moved on, to the major green tea exporter and producer city of Korea:
Bo-Seong!(4 hour drive)

Went down to the store, to buy some stuff for my aunt and uncle, and then had some green tea icecream, which was amazing:




After this, I went on a 6 hour drive back up to Gangnin-Sungcho, so that I wouldn't have to drive too far back to my house in Bucheon, and to eat some seafood there.

I wake up to a spectacular view. Time to eat, I'm famished.

Here we are at the fish market! Normally, it sells fish, but this port town(Gangnin) has a reputation for having tasty crab and squid. Here are some accompanying pictures of the market:

RAW cut up squid, eaten with spicy sauce.

Literally called "Spicy Stew", this is a mixture of seafood with peppered water. Goes well with rice.

Crab. Delicious.


Well, after eating, I decide to leave and head back home (3 hours).
