I think, no excuses. Just like how Jericho came back at 2007 in 2 years after being "fired" by Bischoff, I think WWE will have no problem sending Cena back with the implicit premise of being "re-hired". No frills.

Probably it will help if a viral marketing campaign similar to Jericho's might help.

We need some Cena break, anyway. Just six months of not seeing that guy can help some get in the main event picture.

For one, I can't stop laughing when I saw the dejected faces, my family thought I was nuts. I don't know how WWE cameramen finds these faces in the sea of people watching, they must be real good at this. Last time, they found crying kids when Cena got defeated by Barrett.

There's a joke in a different forum about him redebuting in NXT 4 as masked wrestler, Dr. Thug. Personally I'd love to see that. Or maybe him dressing up as Darren Young.
