Even though one study has proven some results, it will take countless other studies for this discovery to develop some validation. Hell, some medications, even though they've gone through countless positive tests, are still being tested for validity and reliability. I believe that it will be a long time before something like this is proven to be both safe, and effective for humans. Even then, it will probably not pass due to ethical reasons.

I agree completely. The world is over populated as it is now and yet the rate is getting higher every year. India, China, U.S..... if this actually becomes available to the public, it would lead to disastrous consequences. Food shortage is one.But what I'm more concerned about is the fact that even if this becomes commercially available, it will be expensive as hell. the only people who has access to such is the rich. I think this will widen the gap between the rich and the regular even more. It will cause much hatred
We could resort to cannibalism, but I'm not eating anyone anytime soon. Frankly I say if the make a drug like this avaliable to the world have a back-up that stops them from having kids.

I think I remember reading somewhere that we are about 10-20 years away from terraform technology that will allow us to redesign a planet enough to be suitable for us to live on, such as Mars.

However, it takes many hundreds of years in terraform a planet. Venus will take even longer than Mars to terraform. The likely hood of our race trying to terraform a planet when the technology is developed is highly unlikely to start straight away though. We'll likely be very old by the time anything happens.
However, despite scientists trying to stop the inevitable, our races existence is guaranteed to end a lot sooner than we may think. Not 2012 before you all scoff, but our planet will be devoured by a blackhole before the Sun dies/expands to a Red Giant and incinerates our planet.
