Since watching this episode on The Escapist, I've grown to put a lot of thought into the state of gaming, anime and general internet culture and the rampant amounts of racism, sexism, homophobia. And don't any of you deny it. How many of us have made 'Get back in the kitchen' jokes, black jokes, called someone a fag, called someone a virgin or just stayed silent and watched others do the same?

Is why we are constantly attacked by politicians, soccer moms and the like who are trying to get games banned and why we are generally shunned and labeled as a bunch of loud, anti-social, obnoxious assholes who live their entire lives on the computer and/or game console and treat everything in real life like a joke.

The best and most personal example of this was an episode of Kannazuki no Miko that I watched on youtube. And this one, Chikane supposedly snapped and turned into one of the Orochi, and part of that involved raping Himeko. We didn't get to see it, but goddamnit, the truth was there. The experience left poor Himeko shocked, hurt and turned her into a walking, weeping vegetable for another two-three episodes that spanned perhaps weeks into a month or two.

But, as serious and shocking as this was, the general reaction to that scene went something like this:”Oh, yeah that part was totally hot, Himeko is so lucky to be raped by Chikane, herp derp!”.... Are you fucking kidding me?! Rape is rape, it doesn't matter who it involves, it's still a crime, it's still physically, emotionally and mentally scarring and it's still-for these reasons-wrong on any level.

It shouldn't fucking matter that this was an attractive girl raping another attractive girl should not matter and it DEFINITELY shouldn't somehow make it okay or hot or any shit like that. And no, it wasn't just one or two trolls saying this shit, it was nearly every fucking comment on that youtube page.

This, is fakku's own stake in the contribution to the internet culture's rampant sexism. And all of you complaining about the vanilla community's outspokeness against this sort of thing, they have a fucking right to. You know why?

Says to me that the image of a girl being raped isn't something to be at the very least apalled about, but something to be titillated by and fap to.

I'm not going to use the argument that “People who enjoy rape porn are capapable of rape”, but what I will say is that those of you who do should take a good hard look at what the fact that it arouses you for any reason and at all says about you.

First of, I would like to address your denouncing of these doujins and fakku. It is important to dissociate fetishes and fantasies from reality, and fortunately, a vast majority of people is able to do that. The very reason why immoral or degrading material is enticing for many is because they are things we know are wrong and/or things we would never do in actual life. Kinda like why some like incest or beastiality material. I don't think there is anything wrong with that, and as long as this stuff remains inconcrete, neither should you. Secondly, I will admit that jokes ridiculizing women are common and discouraging. I can see how rhis is offensive, as it was pointed out to me by my gf who is an avid internet lurker. I will stand on the opinion that mean humor, in this particular case, remains pathetically funny. It's the kind of joke men tell each other behind their gfs' backs to bolster morale and ignore the fact they are the ones being controlled by women. [ lol] Lastly, concerning the matter of sexist and racist material on the internet, I would like to add that only idiots would take it seriously. They should be seen as sorts of modern social criticism, south-parkesque irony and sarcasm. What's funny in this material isn't [prejudice x]. Well, perhaps you have a point in what you said about the race jokes and the like and this will take some further meditation.

However, I stand by my points about rape/ntr doujin. And no, I'm not denouncing Fakku, I'm more or less calling it out as one of those places that allows this kind of stuff to exist. I don't care if people seperate it from real life, it's still bad. Bestiality and incest may be considered disgusting, but no one's actually being hurt in those instances.

I feel there is a huge difference between making a race/women joke and actually being racist or sexist. I myself make offensive jokes quite often, but to to me they are just that,jokes. Of course there are cases where it goes beyond joking, like in the incident cited by lang in the vid. Also, plenty of non-gamers use offensive jokes sometimes.

On the topic of rape hentai and the like, i think for most people they can separate that from reality. I have fapped to a couple of them myself, but i would never tolerate rape in real life.The way i see it they are just things to get off on, and shouldn't at all be a influence on how one treats women in real life. And in non hentai stuff(or at least things i'm not watching/reading to get off on) i view rape and the like quite differently. I take it more seriously in those cases.

Their all in good fun. Now on the subject of rape you tell us not the use the argument of its just a fantasy. As Black Jesus said people can separate reality from fiction. i personally am not a fan of racist, homophobic, and sexist jokes on the internet but i don't think these jokes necessarily mean that you are racist, homophobic, or sexist. i think that you can make these kinds of jokes around friends who know you and know what you're particular beliefs are, but on the internet these jokes only come off as offensive. since i don't know you, i don't know that you aren't prejudiced. i also think that the internet gives people the chance to say what they are really feeling without consequence. so a lot of those jokes do reflect what people actually think but may be too afraid to say in RL.
