Someone else touched upon it, yet they only explained a limited amount. It wasn't tailored to this topic, either.
Men and women evolved for different purposes. They evolved to complete one another. Plato speaks of this in his book the Republic, how much more efficient is a society where one man is a tailor, another a baker, another a fisher, another a warrior, than a society in which all men do all things? Specializing is efficient. Everything is needed, and everything can be perfected when given focus. Yet focus on all things at once and there really is no focus to speak of. Such a shame.
Communication. That's the topic at hand. Men and women evolved differently. Remember, humans have existed for millions of years. Civilization has only existed for an absolute maximum of 10,000 years, probably less. The sexual market as we know it today has only existed in the West for the last 30 or so years, since the sexual revolution. (It still doesn't exist in many other nations.) Before then, the rules were different. Tell me, which time period do you think had more effect on the human species? The million years we spent in hunter - gatherer tribes, or the last 30 years we spent in cities where everyone could fuck everyone without social shaming? I'll give you a clue, evolution doesn't occur in 30 years. Whenever we think of evolution of human nature, we always think of what was most beneficial in hunter - gatherer tribes.
Women were home makers and gatherers. They raised the children. They took care of the caves. They gathered food from the area surrounding their dwelling. Women discovered agriculture. Women were a certainty. They were safe. They almost always found food. It wasn't the best of food, but it was there. They lived. They were away from danger. They were survival.
Men were hunters. They left the caves, sometimes for weeks (months?) at a time. They hunted food far from home. They cut down animals. Men were a gamble. They were risk. They didn't always get food, but when they did it was more at a time, and higher quality. They were often in danger, so many of them died. They were luxury.
Men were expendable. Women were not. It has recently been discovered that modern humans are the descendants of twice as many women as men. This means that if 80% of all women reproduced, only 40% of all men reproduced. In other words, on average, each man would impregnate two different women. This makes sense when we think about it past the surface. Men were a luxury, and they were a gamble. In a gamble, you either win or lose. There's no middle ground. Two men go out in search of the hunt. One dies while taking down the beast. The other survived. He returns with his catch. Both women lived because they were safe. He fucks them both since there's no competition, and they either screw a man who's also screwing someone else, or they screw no one at all. (This is before monogamy existed, so no social shaming.)
Different roles. Different survival rates. Do you think communication could possibly be different?
Men focus more on logic and rational. Talk about how you feel about that tiger with your best mate. You're both dead. Talk about how to best kill that tiger with your best mate. Good job, only one of you died. ; ]
Women focus more on feelings. This allows a deeper connection with each other, and since there's a deeper connection, all are close to one another and will help one another more. Talk about how you that comment made you feel, because that way you can resolve the issue before it becomes problematic. (On the other hand, men don't talk about it and then one of them ends up dead. Sucks.)
Also there's a difference on what's seen. One gender tends to see details, while the other sees the big picture. Normally women see details -- if women in your tribe, let's not forget half the tribe is related to you, can't distinguish between the small detail of which berry is poisonous... you finish that thought. Men that can't realize the herd they hunted last month won't be in the same exact location... again, finish the thought yourself.
If you keep in mind the two big differences between men and women while talking to them, it's easier to communicate. Next time she says, "Look at Jenny's boyfriend, he always brings her flowers," don't respond with "I got you flowers last week." She's expressing a feeling, he's responding with logic. The two don't mix well.* And women, when men make a connection where there doesn't seem to be one, rest assured that it makes sense to them. Just go with it.

When children men and woman are pretty much the same. And are raise in pretty much the same way. Its when they start to mature... that's when the changes occur.
And that article makes sense, but i don't think its entirely right. and it is biased and heavily opinionated. but that doesn't mean its not somewhat got a foothold in the truth.
It is true men are very simple, but not all are so shallow. Also not all woman are complicated but it is true most of them are.

"Opinions" can be wrong when born from false facts/observations/etc. ONE'S LOGIC CAN BE FLAWED.
I could hold the opinion that chocolate is made from bees. An opinion I based on seeing a bee farm behind a chocolate factory. My logic would be wrong and my opinion would be wrong.

The problem, with the "It's my opinion, and therefore infallible" argument is that people confuse what can be valued objectively with what can be valued subjectively.

And you then listed bands that they stole their sound from, showed evidence of live shows where they forgot the words or messed up a song, took the actual music and laid out how it isn't simple it is lazy, how the band has been quoted in interviews as saying they put no effort in and such
You can LIKE them, and that's fine (that is a valid opinion). But you are liking a bad band, and that is something that CAN be proven.

I honestly... have a hard time buying the "men are from mars, women are from venus" argument these days. And this could largely be the environment I am exposed to and the people I choose to interact with, but I'm seeing an almost homogenizing effect between how the sexes interact with the world around them, and I get the feeling it's the strength of Post-Industrial society what does it.

I don't believe there are natural (versus nurtural...) characteristics that change between men and women (stuff that isn't like.. very biological. like of course, girls have more of a maternal instincts, etc). I think it's all.. learned behaviors, from culture, your environement, upbringing, etc.
