You're wrong. While it would take a long time to measure their respective influences upon history, both are distinguishable factors in the development of mankind.
Personally, I would say that money has had a more significant impact. Mankind is inherently corruptible. The moment we started ascribing value to things, human society changed. Even in the earliest of cultures, limits were placed upon what you could do, based upon what you had.
Think of it as a concert, or whatever. Anyone can get a ticket, but the best seats are only available to those who can afford them.
