First of all, I never once said there were no benefits from religion, like a working community or funding building schools, well not too sure schools are really a good thing, and things of that nature.
Second of all, why would you think God would want to create something to get benefit from it? You once again prove my point of the mind manipulation behind religion.
Here comes another one of my big guns. Who do you believe in more God or the men who created and spread religion and the "holy books"?
Indeed you never said there is no benefits, I just brought that matter up so you know my point of view as a theist.
You're right, I mis worded that part. I had a feeling.
If I explain that part the way I want to explain it so you understand, I am gonna sound like those people on the street that is trying to preach their respective religion, so unless you really wanna know what I have in mind in that, tell me and I'll be glad to explain it to you.
For your big gun, this is how I believe it.
I believe God created a messenger to spread the knowledge of my religion, and the holy books is the word of my God and only His word. I don't understand what you meant by "those men".

You said religion is keeping you from doing drugs and other bad things right? I strongly disagree with you.
Religion or not what you do is of your own free will. That's why people who Are religious to still do drugs, it's of your own choice. If you were not religious I believe you wouldn't do drugs because you are smart enough to realize that it's bad from what you've seen or heard. You shouldn't give your religion the credit and give yourself that credit. You chose not to do drugs no matter for religious reasons or otherwise.
Sorry if im insulting you for telling you what you would do.
If religion already forbids people to do those stuff, they are just ignoring the fact that it's not allowed and still uses them. It sure is their free will, but that does not mean they are not going to receive the consequences.
Well, it was said in the my holy books not to do something that can harm myself.
Alcohol was clearly forbidden (even though I tried them once just to find out how it taste). I chose not to do drugs and alcohol because my religion forbids it, and because I am smart enough not to consume them.
I do want to use an example.
Like, say you're a kid. You're just doing as you're told by your parents, right? Once, they tell you not to eat chocolate. You would do one of the two things. Be stubborn and eat chocolate, or listen to your parents and don't eat the chocolate. Later on, you found out that you have an allergic to chocolate. You were a kid, you didn't know what an allergic was, but later on, you're starting to understand what the consequences are if you eat chocolate.
Sure, I am intelligent enough to know that drugs aren't good for me, but to know the fact that my religion also mentioned it in my holy books makes me feel like my religion cares about my health being.
EDIT: Don't double post.
