I might get some shit for this, but I just have to say...
David Hasselhoff has never made a good show. He is a terrible actor, and his shows were only entertaining because he is such a shitty actor. He's now just a parody of himself, like William Shatner and Adam West.
Although, Shatner is on a legitimate show right now...for the first time in his career.

Talking about beer? The only beer I drink is Hokkaido Sapporo. Weird, eh? Most people don't like it, but I love it.

Besides the bigger is better attitude Germans nice people. Good Beer, Bratwurst is win and well what's not to like about this:

I do have a cultural reason for liking Germans, I guess. I'm Irish, and they make good beer. Canadian beer, on the other hand, is terrible. Tastes like water, and I don't drink beer to drink water. I drink beer to drink beer.
Canada has acceptable whiskey, though.
But that's an entirely different topic.

Once every year i go on a car trip whit the rest of my family down to southern Germany, for mostly skiing
And during thoose seven years we've done so i've yet to meet a german person who actually made me angry or was being rude all but once.

Usually they're the people you most likly want to hang out whit.

I've allso as i can remember never talked to a german citizen ( i did it once where i asked him if he ''needed more living space'' when he was trying to ruffle between the queue in a ski lift )

The only thing i rly say i think is bad about germany is the constant dubbing of the movies on thier TV-Channels ( nearly ripped my eyez out when i saw the german version of James Bond :( )

other than that, they are generally not very well liked in switzerland, since most of the people that get here are either business leaders or academics and people feel that they "steal" the good jobs here...

stuff like that doesnt bother me though. although they seem to have this annoying habbit of constantly interrupting when someone else (like me) is talking. streitkultur was it?

I don't really have an opinion on Germany or Germans, but I do hate the German language. It sounds angry, no matter what is being said, no matter if it's being said by a man or a woman, it always sounds angry.

But everyone I know loves the German language! Everybody thinks it sounds great, and I just don't get it. The hottest woman in the world could say something in German to me, and it would instantly kill my boner.

Is it just me?

Now, to be clear, I'm not dissing anybody. Like I said, I don't really have an opinion on Germans, they're people just like everyone else, and I don't discriminate against Germans or anything. Germany has produced a lot of good movies and music and sex stuff and booze. The German language just isn't my thing.

That's the first time I've ever heard of something like that about german. Are you talking about a certain dialect? For example, viennese german is spoken mostly frowdy with a kind of 'disgusted' tone of voice - but I think high german (Or standard german.) is actually a quite beautiful language, which, except if it's intended, doesn't sound 'angry' at all. And what I know about the more common bavarian german doesn't really seem to sound angry, too. For example, italian and especially turkish sound extremely angry to me, although I have absolutely no knowledge about them, these languages seem to be spoken with a very rough tone, which is kind of frightening - and I can't really see anything like that in high german. Then again, what I know about swiss german is the exact opposite - this dialect, at least to me, seems to consist only out of cracking the voice, which makes the people sound like they're in a good mood all the time.

I wasn't glorifying American beer, I was glorifying German beer.



So...Germans are to the Swiss what Mexicans are to Americans?

I have no idea what dialects I've heard. I'm not a master of languages, let alone the German language. It may be that every time I've heard someone speak German, it's been Viennese German, I don't know. But every time I've heard someone speak German, it's sounded angry. Or, at the very least, very manly, even if spoken by a woman.

these 'whats your view on (fill in)' are really getting on my nerves. If this is what you people can come up with for a serious topic, then i dont know what the world is coming to. When i think of germans, i think of nazis, toothbrush moustaches, and blondes. GO FIGURE. I know its kind of bad to think of nazis, but seriously. who screwed the world over 60 years ago?

I can kind of understand getting annoyed at all these "What's your View on ____" topics, but it's not really like Serious Discussion is bustling with activity. At least these topics are something. They're better than having only one new topic every four days.
