I am an athiest, and I'd rather not believe in a religion because its seems like religion always brings about disagreements which leads to conflicts. For example, umm in 10th grade their were 3 athiest kids in my class. Some weird guy, my friend and myself. (Well, the guy wasnt weird, he would be classified as the average fakkuer. the reason why he would be considered weird and not me is cuz i hung out with the more popular crowd). So to the point, the class was having a religious conversation when someone threw in the air that my friend and I were athiest, all of a sudden we started getting all these insults thrown at us startin with the famous line "you gonna go to hell" My friend just got mad and started saying fuck god and callin the girls sayin things bitches, but i sat silently and watched. Then, its was thrown in the air that the other boy was athiest. when the insulted him he replied " I dont see a need to be religious when nothing was proven" Instantly the boy was punched inthe face and he lost his consciousness, and no one in the class felt sorry for the boy that was decked for not having a religion.
Those Christians are not true Christians in the sense they follow the teachings of Jesus. Using religion as a basis of violence? Jesus never said he supported that.
I'm atheist, but I do study biblical text to a degree greater than most Christians (that basically means I've read the entire bible and read analytical texts) and I must say, there are lessons to be learned from the religions texts, but at the same time, one must remember things are different then when religion first began. Also not all religious writers are writing what they truly believe to be the word of god. Like I said much earlier, the modern Bible is propaganda of the Catholic Church that represents few of the thousands of biblical texts rejected.
If anything, the Donation of Constantine proves that the Catholic church back then is already using the Bible as political agenda.
