Which is better, believing in a god or not?

You know what's best? Letting people believe in what they want to. There is no one being better than the other, and both atheists and religious people have their fair share of "bad guys". Freedom of and/or from religion is best.

I just say God exist but the one influence our lives is ourselves. God can't always be with you since there are more than 1 life in this planet.

It's a tough choice really, personally I am agnostic so I do believe that there are gods but I do not desire to wish any of them for one reason or another.
If I am honest I do believe that is up to the person in general wether they believe in god and use him to feel the gap in their hearts or wether they choose not to.

Regardless of whether you believe in a god or not, you'd still believe in something. It's only healthy to believe in something weather factual or supernatural

Personally, I'm Agnostic, (for anyone who doesn't know, this means that, in a simple form, I don't doubt or believe about the existence of any god/diety there could possibly be.) But i was raised christian, so i have a stance that is very peculiar on this subject. I believe that there MIGHT be something out there, that MAY have done SOMETHING to shape the way the world would be formed.

But, that's a completely different subject. Personally, it really depends on the person's personal belief. In my opinion, Believing in god could be, in theory, bad for a person's well-being. What if you believe in god, and pray to him for help with something, and it doesn't turn out well for you, it could lead to severe depression, and i think a lot of people here have gone through something like this, and could cause something very bad to happen.

So my stance is, not believing in god could be better, but it all depends on what type of person it is. I know, i basically completely canceled out my answer, but oh well :P.

What ? I don't understand what you mean ? I'm an atheist here , i don't believe in god or anything , i don't even believe that there is a reason to life or whatever , so what do i believe in if everyone believe in something ?

Ohh but you are believing that nothing is true. You believe that the answer is not taking anything for certain. You are, in the end, believing in your lifestyle, and you believe firmly enough in it to reply to me.

You believe in Living, and making the best out of what you have. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here talking to us.

The answer to what ? Once again what you say isn't true , you can take things for certain if you have proof of it , if you don't , it's just illogic to say that it's true .



I believe in my lifestyle ? What does that even mean ...

I believe in god although in a pretty complicated fun way, although it's also pretty disturbing.

To me, the world is merely a collection of thoughts and concepts by human and other living beings that when the conditions are right intertwine to become a functioning reality in other words there is no GOD only GODS. Once an idea be it a person/persons, event, or situation is thought up no matter how absurd it becomes real although in a different time, place or realities. hence to me we were created by other humans whose thoughts merged into a reality and the ideas we think about become real in another reality which supports the conditions/Physics it need to happen (meaning anime is real!) which then create another reality going on and on in a cycle towards the 1st reality that created our reality. Once someone dies their existence is maintained although in a different reality the one we call heaven or hell but I doubt its just these two there are probably more. Ghost and other supernatural phenomena occur when some of the memories and other discarded data (either from the family of that person or that person himself) that are left over are strong enough to manifest physically or visually (like if you were to spill ketchup on your face and you wipe it it still smells like ketchup). Which makes me think if we can create a god that gave birth to our world through this cycle of realities does that mean we can alter ours by studying this cycle of thoughts...then again I guess its impossible.

But if this is true, what created this cycle?

Besides I don't there is a being that is pure good or evil....It's just impossible because good and evil simply balances each other. Without evil good would be corrupted and turn evil. The same goes the other way around


Yeah I really don't want to give more into this since it's been bugging me ever since I was a kid(believe me its true) and even after 10 years I'm still trying understand the concept of god or realities very well. I just wanted to share my thoughts with everyone.

After reading half a dozen pages here's my PoV to both sides.

Dear believer of X religion, believing any form of god is what it is, faith, don't try to bring logic or reason into the equation because it's like trying to measure your height with a scale.
Stop bringing up scientific principles and "facts" because it's not working for you.
Faith is still one of the few topics that if you're asked why do you believe in them you can answer "Because I want to" and end the discussion there.
Enjoy it while you still can.

Dear Atheist/Agnostic I know you think it's a feat that you managed to shake off religion, but it's not, you were born in times of religious apathy and there wasn't much to shake off to begin with.
You came to a conclusion using reason, you did the same when you stopped believing in Santa and and you do the same thing every minute you are awake.
Stop telling people how to live their lives, that what of organized religion does and it sucks dick.

No, actually it's not. IF someone says, "I believe on faith because I want to." I am perfectly happy with arguing the veracity of this faith, and I'm perfectly happy arguing about the aspects of their faith, because they vote along those lines, and that's my business to affect.

You'll find a significant amount of Fakkuers probably live somewhere in the United States. to say that we grew up with 'religious apathy' is not only silly, but it's directly contradicted by the fact that in this thread, and on this forum, which is pretty liberal as far as issues go ,there are muslims and christians constantly giving their commentary. I was even told by a christian that "Belief in evolution isn't all that important, I mean, it speaks volumes when evolution is taught in the classroom yet only half the country believes it."

As for me, I grew up in a christian home, by christian parents, who sent me to the church down the street 3 times a week, and was regularly babysat at the pastor's house when I was a youngster.

Times of religious apathy? Lol.



We're not telling people how to live their lives, we're advocating that people be at least as reasonable as us. Personally I'm ok with someone who wants to believe in god, because one can believe whatever they want. It's their right. Doesn't mean it's not also my right to argue with them if I feel they're being willfully ignorant about political or social or moral matters BECAUSE of this god belief. And I am not only fully justified in doing so, but I SHOULD do so.

Unless you live in North Korea, Afghanistan and few other wonderful places you can't deny that this is as best as religion apathy has being before.
Less people go to church/mosques and especially at younger population the % took a nosedive. The numbers of "semi" religious people are massive, the type that doesn't pray, goes church/mosque once/twich a year, doesn't follow their churches dogma.
This is the pinnacle of religious apathy.





I'd just rather if both parties just kept it to themselves.
Believe(or not) in what you want, just don't make it involve anyone else.

Firstly I know, and I gave my PoV for both sides while avoiding a direct answer to the topic.
It's secondly of course it up to discussion, but in my perfect world everyone could keep his religious beliefs private and not involve other with them.

Depends on which you REALLY believe in, not what others believe in. If you really think if there is a God, believe in it, other way around works too.
