Which is better, believing in a god or not?

Well, subjectively, yes.
People will always have their own point of view of doing or define on something. Though for me, I'd prefer to believe in my God instead, and I have nothing against Atheist or people who have different perception with me about "God". I respect their choice, and hopefully, they will respect my choice in return.

OP, I believe your presence here indicates that you are mature enough to judge and decide it by yourself. Which one is better ? Which one is right ? Your choice. Your opinion and decision are only for yourself. Godspeed for that.

I was living the life a quasi-serious Christian for five years. Then I started seeing some Atheist videos on Youtube that made a lot of sense. I tried any means necessary to hold on to my faith at that time. But then I started doing research by reading the Bible and a lot of introspect. I came to the conclusion that it is impossible to trust such a contradictory and stubborn God.

I've been living life for five years being fearful and guilty for just looking at a female. If I have a "vice" it would be lust, so I am using this as an example. But then again isn't it God who created us with libidos at a young age? Why feel guilty and it's not my fault?

I don't think it's better to believe because you would be living your life fearful. I think someone said along the lines of "Living a life full of fear isn't a life worth living at all".

No one can say "you have to believe in god" or "you should not believe in god". Everyone have to ask himself this question and should decide how he/she wants to live.

Just be good and leave it at that.

I'm the kind of person who has to see it to believe it. People always use the excuse "Well there's hints of god everywhere, everything you see was created by him" and let me say that gets really tiring and proves nothing. I don't believe in a god because for all we know it could just be made up. I'd rather not fall for the same illusion that many others fall for and that's just how I see it as, religion overall is a sort of illusion. An illusion that separates us from becoming truly united.

Seeing and believing has nothing to do with it. Christianity has something called faith. I am agnostic by choice, but I think the problem is others simply calling people with faith ignorant and stupid. I hate people who refuse to accept other's views. The only thing worse than a religious fanatic is a scientific fanatic. Your theories are just as invisible and unproven as Christianity's, yet you want to be elitist and say you're right and the opposite side is wrong. No need to assert your opinion on somebody else, especially if you've never met them and never will! silly gooses. Just because other people's beliefs don't parallel yours doesn't discredit them.

TL;DR : Atheists are just as stubborn, ignorant, and bigoted as religious fanatics, sometimes vastly worse. That's why if I had to pic a belief, I'd pick "Open Mind".

Let me stop you right there. There are Theists and Atheists. Those two are comparable on the same level. What you are doing is comparing, equally, Atheists to Religious Fanatics.

"Atheist" and "Theist" are neutral descriptions of a how you choose to (or not to) believe. Fanaticism is a subset of either of these categories, not co-sets. It would be incorrect of you to generalize Atheists as fanatics.

I think Atheism is a perfectly valid position to hold, but I will not tolerate them bashing faith, spirituality, and religion. I have met plenty that call people stupid and narrow-minded because of faith. I think it's the other way around. The fact that one can't accept another's belief and feelings proves their own narrow-mindedness.

A good portion of Atheists, including myself, just simply don't believe in a higher power. That's it. There is no bashing of people with other beliefs.

Yes, there are definitely Atheists who might bash for say Christians. However, stating that the whole Atheist group is like this is just ridiculous.

There are Christians out there who bash Atheists too. "How could you not believe in god. Your so stupid...blah blah blah". There are these type of people in every group.

Nope. Just blanket-slapping a label based on your own opinion on a group which, by definition, does not inherently meet those opinions.

I wish I could claim I was totally unbiased. Honestly, I see religion as a crutch, or something of a vestigial theory to explain where we came from, and how some things are they way they are.

But, at the same time, it is kind of difficult to be able to say that our origins as a species, and the vastness of everything around us happened 'by chance'.

However, I have never bashed someone for believing different than myself. It seems that, thanks to my rotten luck, I always seem to run across the Ãœber-Christians, who automatically assume I'm a devil-worshiper or something for not believing the Holy Word of Jesus, or whatever title it's going by now.

Irregardless, believing or not believing is personal choice. As is meddling in other people's business due to their difference in opinion.

So I've tried my best to distance myself from any type of discussion on this topic, for the most part anyway. As honestly, I couldn't give two shits what you think, and it wouldn't hurt my feelings for you to say the same of me. Even if I disagree (Which I do.) I won't consider you wrong or belittle you for it. Sure wish everyone did the same.
