Would you wear fur products?

As the topic goes, would you wear any fur products? Im interested in hearing reasoning for both answers.

If you would/do wear fur, why dont you see nothing wrong in it?

If you would not wear fur, why not?

I myself have only one clothing product with fur on it and that is a winter jacket where the round of the hood is covered in fur. Other than that i dont see myself wearing any fur products or like them that much, but i have nothing against those people who wear fur coats or hats or whatever products. Actually i myself work in the fur industry in Canada at the moment.

Why i dont see anything wrong with it? The reason being simply human evolution, we have our entire existence used animals one way or the other, mostly for food and clothing, and as the most evolved species on planet earth, i think it is ok for us to dominate other species as long as we dont pointlessly harm/torture or cause their extinction. In 2014 we obviesly do not have to use fur coats to keep ourselves warm during the winter and pretty much over 90% of the fur products are "fashion items" anyway, but i still dont see the ethical wrong in farming animals for their fur. I simply do not have a problem with it. I would also add that fur industry is a somewhat "big" part of the northern countries economies, they bring in alot of tax dollars and alot of jobs.

Yes, i can admit or say that in my own "utopian world" we would not farm animals for fashion, but in the real world i dont have a problem with it.

I don't wear any fur products, too expensive or I just don't care for fur.
And I'm not against fur products, since its just animals, and animals are too dumb to care, that's my evil opinion.

I do wear fur products. I have a fur hat (love it), fur coat, and fur mittens. Im also planning to add fur pants and legwarmers (sort of like a shin/boot cover without the sole) to my collection this year.

Why do i wear it? Well for one, its cheap as hell for me because i hunt and tan my own hides, and i am very good at sewing, so i make good quality items that would cost a fuckload in a store for almost free, and the second reason is because its very very warm.

Do i wear it for fashion? Not really, just when its extremely fucking cold (like -20 to -30 Celsius), although it does look good on me.

But i dont think its wrong if you wear it purely for fashion, unless its the fur of an endangered animal, because if there is a market, poachers will have good incentive to hunt endangered animals to extinction.

I have an original B-3 bomber jacket. Can't move around to well in it, but, I have never gotten cold with it. I don't wear it until the temp drops into the 20's it was expensive as hell, but it works!.

I don't wear fur. Too expensive, not necessary where I live.

But I think it's better farming animals than hunting then if we speak about fur industry. Though I admit it, I think fur can't be or become cheap, because it may mean there would be some hidden vices in the production : illegal hunting or unnecessary animals ill-treatment -- with possible defect/consequence for the product.

As for the fashion, I think it's just absurd because when poor people want cheap fur, then you can be sure it would not be quality and animals will be either ill-treated or endangered. Why endangered ? Because wealthy people like to wear out-fit that nobody else could buy -- and why not an out-fit made with endangered species if you have enough money to buy it and make the advocates teams and who know more to deal with laws ?

I thing it should/must remain as niche market but actually I don't find its disappearance as necessary.

I don't own any fur products only because I really don't like the look of most of them. Nothing wrong with owning them, but me personally I just don't really like the way it looks. Though for winter if was going to be outside a lot I would buy a whole set.

I just always felt that the hunter keeps animals in check with not allowing animals to overpopulate and the "animal lover" keeps the hunter in check so we don't hunt to brink of extinction. Hell I was going to find Elmer Fudge to hunt some day rabbits if I keep seeing them around here.

I would certainly wear fur. Not for fashion or anything, but because I have a penchant for fluffy things.

When it comes to the morality of slaughtering animals for fashion, my response is normally less of an argument for it being moral, and more an argument for the fact that I don't care if it's moral or not. Since I'm not the one that's directly causing the harm I can distance myself from the morality, and keep my conscience satisfied. If you were to ask me if I would kill an animal with my own hands for there fur, then probably not.

It's a very self-serving view, but I'm a very self-serving person.

I don't see any problem with using them. I have some fur boots that I love wearing (I just like how they look more than anything). As for the price: Yes they're a little expensive which is the only reason why I won't buy a lot of fur products.

I'm not too bothered by the 'moral' issues regarding killing animals for their fur, skin, meat, ect. Because we humans have used animals for those uses for thousands of years, so I don't see any moral issue with it. All animals use other animals to help themselves survive so I don't see any issue with why using animals fur for our benefit is bad.

If you were only looking at the fashion aspect of killing animals for their fur then I might see a 'moral' problem with it since it isn't being used for our own survival so much as to look more attractive (Kind of contradictory with my reason for using fur boots but I do what I want). Anyway, I didn't kill the animal so I don't feel obligated to debate the morals over it, if I did have to kill the animal then I almost certainly wouldn't kill it and debate killing an animal is wrong for the reason of fashion, but at the point of wearing them it's too late really since I can't do much for the animal.

I have one or two alligator items and one fur coat (this was all passed down to me from family members). I don't have an obsession for animal bases products, but I don't hate people who wear them. If I think it's practical to my tastes, affordable, and I like it I will buy it. Other then that I don't really care.

If I could wear them (given circumstances, financial or physical would permit it), then I would. Surely they must be comfortable!

Appealing to the majority (Argumentum ad populum) which (given the majority) does not seem to pay much mind to the acquisition of animal fur in a negative light, I don't have much of a reason not to wear fur products, beyond maintaining their condition.

Also why are people against fur but not against leather?
It is the same, just without the hair.

Because leather is from cows (mostly, at least that's what people assume about leather).
And the simple fact is people generally care less about cows than cute fluffy animals like foxes, racoons and minks (which is what they associate with fur).

Peoples reasoning is never entirely unbiased, and when it comes to animals, most are naturally more protective of species they like more.

Wearing fur because it is practical and warm, I'm all for it. Wearing fur that's expensive as fuck, for the sake of looking like your clothing/accessories are expensive as fuck, no.

I just wear simple clothes, to be honest. Fur is too expensive, although I can't say I'm the biggest fan of it either way. It also depends on the animal whose fur is being displayed on the clothes. I really like foxes and wolves, but stuff like bear fur I wouldn't mind quite so much.

I don't own anything with fur, and I don't have nothing against wearing fur. In fact I'm wanting to get a jacket/hoodie which has fur on the hood. :)

I am not very fond of the idea of fur clothing, excessive yet with no utility at all. But since I am guilty of obsessing with high quality leather for my clothing, I might not be qualified to give an opinion to the morality of the whole issue. I would say that however, if the fur or animal parts does serve a practical purpose, I.e. Kangaroo leather makes a kickass soccer shoe with a touch of unprecedented nature, badger fur brush makes an awesome shaving accessory, etc. then I would say it justifiable.

Most fur has tremendous utility. It usually has some kind of special property that synthetics pale in comparison too. Either extra insulation or waterproofing or frost resistance or such.

It actually ticks me off when hunters throw their furs away, but that's me.

I do wear fur. A lot of my winter parkas have them lining the collar or hood(if there is one), I also have a collection of Ushankas and other fur lined hats.

I don't believe there should be anything wrong with wearing it, especially if you're one who eats meat. If you're alright with eating the flesh of an animal, surely you shouldn't care that we wear it's fur otherwise you're pretty much saying we shouldn't be putting what's left of it to good use.

Well not like we don't have alternatives anyway, lot of winter clothes nowadays use those synthetic furs which I personally don't like because they don't really feel the same as the real stuff and I hear some people can have allergic reactions to such synthetic materials.

All in all, it's pretty much about just using the resources that are there in my opinion.

I eat meat, so I guess I'd wear fur. I have leather belts and my winter coat has feathers in it, if that counts. This is all assuming it's not like, some endangered species fur or whatnot.

It honestly really depends on the application. If I was stranded in a barren frozen wasteland with no other sources of warmth save for a fur pelt... then yes I'd wear it over freezing to death.

However I sincerely doubt that scenario will ever happen. I live in California and it's never cold enough to require heavy duty jackets, therefore fur really has no practical use where I live. So personally I'd never wear it, I'd be too hot. But I have no real issues with people wearing it unless they're only wearing it as a fashion statement, then it kind of irks me.

But it's only a mild irk.
