I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing fur products, so long as you are willing to kill the animal and take it's fur with your own hands. Anyone can buy something made from animal fur, but how can you wear it with any sense of pride unless you killed and skinned the animal yourself?
Odd opinion, there is a sense of pride when it comes to making something yourself, but for a long time, wearing fur was a luxury, not a trophy. It's not like a hunter would proudly wear his chinchilla coat bragging about the hunt. Wearing fur can have many reasons such as showing off, you like the feel or look, and or its very warm. Not many wear wolf, boar or bear skins anymore to show off the ability to kill such. Personally, unless they killed it with a hand made bow, or a knife, I am really not impressed.
To reply to the topic, if you refuse to wear fur, better avoid every single animal product. Naturally being a responsible consumer when it comes to fur is the way to go. You don't need to contribute to the extinction of an animal, or support an industry that might have more than the standard terrible conditions for animal and or employee. But to avoid fur, feathers, leather, meat, medicine and a multitude of other products, is silly and to just avoid fur is hypocritical.
