Been looking at that game now. Some stuff:
While the music is generally bad received from what I've heard, I like it a lot.
Especially Elena's remix, thank god. I hate her original theme so much.
There's a lot of discussion going on about it being faulty in terms of input delay etc, but after hours of play I didn't notice any issues on a PS3. Yun combos were the usual, Ken 1F super links were the usual, Parrying felt the same as always - and I played most of my time on the PS2 version, which is rumoured to have a speed difference as well. Whatever. I've heard
reports from fameous players who say the opposite - and I take their word over my own, actually - but I don't feel those issues, so I'm fine.
The trials are
ridiculous. I'm playing this game for a while now and I didn't even know some of this shit is possible. It's like random combos they took out of TAS demonstration videos. Why would they have beginners practice this, please someone tell me.
Those sprite filters looked like ass. The twins became a coloured mass of blur - I just turned everything regarding that off as quickly as possible.
The achievement sidebars, the menues etc are annoying. It just doesn't look like they put effort into it. I really hate some of those new health bar icons, I can't even recognize what Q's supposed to do in his - although the character select artwork is enjoyable. Makoto looks even more like a guy now.
What's really irritating me is how it keeps asking both players about Character select/Continue while bugging you with achievement gains and the like after every match - why do both players ,
taking turns, have to confirm a million times in order to get a simple rematch done? It's like in BlazBlue where you set the game to BO5 so you don't have to deal with the menu and loading times as much and can actually play the damn thing. It's the same on the PS2 version where it leads you back to the Character Select after every match, but Capcom did it right in HDR, why not this port too?
That "brand new" online mode thing goes past me, I've been playing 3rd Strike online for a year now, why do I see so many people pretend they can now "finally" play it? I don't get it. Competition is
a lot worse than on the old GGPO lobby as well. Not just brand new players, but a lot of people trying to play this like it's SF4 now. It started becoming that way on other online lobbies when 3SO was announced, so I was prepared.
TL;DR: Other than the music there is absolutely no reason for me to get this game. Well, I guess it does give my inner achievementwhore something to work with.
