Sony announces PS3 Slim

It will come in the first week of September and cost $299 and also comes with a 120GB hard drive as well as being 36% lighter and 33% smaller. Also shortly after its release will come a new firmware upgrade bringing new features and enhancing features already on it like full PS2 compatibility. Also its going to come with a new digital reader service and have Marvel comic books. Here's a few links to some of those new features:

I personally probably won't buy it but I know for sure my brother is. I'm content with gaming on the computer and when I'm not I just go to my sister's who has a Wii or my friend who has an XBOX360 and PS3.

I put my PS2 slim in my truck last time. I think I'll do that same with the PS3 slim.

I'm happy with what I've got, so no.

No, i will probably buy an old one now that the price has dropped though.

I was planning on picking up a used 60gb console and seeing this hasn't really changed my mind so no, I won't be buying a Slim.

I probably will, since I also need a BluRay player, which would net me around the same, so why not get a console with Bluray reader?

Nope because I already own one. Also, that thing looks ugly as hell. I rather have my bulky version over that thing.

There is really not enough games on the PS3 that I like that will convince me to buy one.

depends on whether there is games that force me to buy one. that's how it is with my ps2 slim too.

I might. Right now there just isn't enough games for me to buy it. I'm pretty much only interested in White Knight Chronicles, and about every shooter on the 360 I enjoy more than a counterpart on the PS3, but I don't imagine it'll stay that way.

Nope, I'm happy with my 60GB which I got for less than what I would pay for a new slim.

No, because I practically have no time for gaming right now, and even if I did want another console apart from my Wii I would still go for a 360.

As for Blu-Ray Players, I'm sure $99 ones will come out by the time I need one.

Wonder what compromises Sony have had to make to drop the price that much.

It's now 1/3 lighter and uses 1/3 the power, so that's where the drop is coming from.

I've been waiting for a reasonably priced ps3, and this is a godsend.
