From Softwares' Fifth main installment of their cult mecha series.

Wiki wrote...

Developers claim that Armored Core V will rely more on tactics and using the geography of the level rather than high-speed finger work. This harks back more to the original PS1 games, especially the first, as many levels were set within city type environments and were more tactical as a consequence. A notable difference will be smaller mechs (5 meter tall, as opposed to the 10 meter mech from the previous releases), which will allow more varied, "three dimensional" stages. Reports from the developer suggest a greater emphasis on stealth as a result of the size change, which allows the mech to maneuver between alleyways and buildings for cover.

The online mode will feature five-on-five team-based battles, with each side battling over specific objectives on a persistent world map. Additionally, one member of the team will be designated as a commander (called an "Operator"), whose job it will be to oversee the larger battle and issue orders to the other team members. A special interface is being designed by the developers to facilitate this.

Another new part of AC5 will be territory battles, thought I'm not sure how this will work out.

E3 CG Trailer:

Demo Gameplay (story):

AC5 will feature new designs as well as a new weapon system called "Overed Weapons" (the most prominent known design being the six flaming chainsaws called the "Grind Blade" shown in an earlier trailer):

The game has been released on January 26, 2012 in Japan.
Both for PS3 and 360.

NamcoBandai has taken up as the new producer of the game, for both NA and EU releases.
NA release is scheduled for 3/20/12 while EU release is 3/23/12.
For those on the NA release, Game Stop and Amazon have offered a weapons/parts package for those who reserved the game.

Huh, slower than AC4? That'll just make shit too easy. I'm not one who uses light legs for speed(boost all the time), but making them BIGGER will slow their fat ass down and I'm just an impatient asshole. Meh, I need gameplay footage.

I have to agree with Rbz, though maybe now I can play without having my mech boost off the fuckin' screen for the majority of the game (FUCK you AC4:Answer).

-I'm absolutely stoked about AC5. My all time favorite mech games (like there are any others?) are MGS and Armored Core. Heh, I like to think that Metal Gear Solid is set during humanity's first introduction into giant robots, and when humanity finally figured out a way to mass produce them, the age of Armored Core dawned the Earth.

--As for speculation, I know only two things that would make this AC the BEST AC hands down:
1. We get to be back in space with current gen graphics (FUCK YES!)
2. I wanna fight Mecha Godzilla. Yeah, I know it won't happen, but any kind of a dragon/dinosaur robot battle would be awesome!

Still, we need gameplay. But for now, let's bask in the beauty of another AC.

When it comes to mech games, theres only 2 games pop in my mind. Armored Core and Mechwarrior. It's allways fun to see some new additions to those great titles.

i think its more like a return to when overboost had use

in AC4 and FA you used more of QB and the balance over the speed in patches had players complaining about it

and anyways i don't the game will slow the ACs that much

and there seems to be no more PA and AA attacks

but you know what i'll put up the pics gawddamit

the graphics are mega gorgeous so much better than the bland enviroments of AC4 and FA

and its all ingame graphics too

and yes

the AC is carrying SEXTUPLE FLAMING CHAINSAWS ON ITS BACK

Oh score new AC! Now... I must suffer the 1-2 year wait for the game to come out and localization =__=

I love mech games, but I didn't like AC4 much-too fast considering the rest of the control scheme and weapons, too little interacting with environments, etc. I'm more of a Mechwarrior type person.

Slowing it down would be good, but it seems unlikely it will be like MW either way(too "Japanese" in the sense of being fast, flashy, and ridiculous). Why did they stop making MW games? I absolutely loved those games.

actually it should come out this year from the look of things

Looking forward to getting back into some more Armoured Core.
The new environs look promising hopefully the game will be optimised enough for the 360 so that it doesn't chug.

I believe the IP rights were sold off to MS but then it was just left to collect dust after MW4-Mercs, also the recent MW5 development apparently ran into some legal issues regarding Mech designs that was similar to one in the Macross universe.
But if you still want your Mechwarrior fix check out Mechwarrior: Living Legends a mod for Crysis it's still in the beta stages of release but looks a blast.

Wait, OB had use? Shit's just a waste of energy.

AA is anti-air, but what is PA again? AC3 was my first AC game, so I got used to the ol' shoulder mounted interception missiles. That was realistic and good. Especially the heat level. That shit was magnifique. I miss overheating my enemy with a rifle and them letting that overheat destroy their AC while I just watch from afar. Good fucking times.

BTW, I doubt that's gameplay footage. We both know the games have their own little HD videos of ACs annihilating one another (which I want them to make a fucking movie out of).

Oh, not this shit again. All this overcompensation, and they never win either. I mean, give me a decent machine gun and a grenade launcher for good measure, and he'll die without ever using them. I bet they hurt like a bitch (I say about 3000 damage).

i've been playing since AC2 and then restarted from AC to ACPP then AC@:AA all the way to ACFA

sooo...

1. nub you never did hear of the technique OB glide especially in AC3 to AC SL
i have played against people online in AC3 and up via Kai online

2. obviously you said AC4 was fast and the fact you don't know what AA is adds to it that you've never played ACFA

3. it is ingame screenshot footage not movie shots. the movie shots would have better quality and a better cinematic feel to it. as being a follower of AC titles, with what marketing campaigns they have, from software always show ingame play movie stuff

4. somehow players online will make nades shit and that sextuple flaming chainsaw imba
just like how blade sniping was imba in ACFA reg patch 1.2

I've always been a fan of this series....which reminds me I still need to go beat AC4 sometime....

oh no nothing.

i'm just another fan boy. move along now. haha.

AA=assault armor

its when you over charge your PA for about a second then exploded everything around you in a 100m radius

oh and i made a mistake

the mechs are smaller so in city fighting would be more awesome

AC5? isnt the AC got smaller here? *wonders why*

Ace Combat 5 was the best.... Lol.

Anyway, really looking forward to AC5. Wonder what the story will work off on. Haha.

It'll be interesting to see how they improved the fighting and stuff.

Smaller AC's mean smaller kits! We'll just have to see how this one plays when it comes out.

I'm extremely excited.

Smaller ACs and tactical urban combat? Hell yes!
