I can't seem to get Lucatiel to survive the Smelter boss, always dies within 10-20% (once 70-65%) of the fight... She can't take anymore than 6-8 hits, and smelters defs is too crazy high for me to kill him quickly (lightning and magic weapons don't make a difference in damage either). On first game, should I give up on this? I've wasted 5 human effigies already, 14 left, I don't even see myself beating this thing (haven't gotten past 50% myself) so I don't see it as being possible.
It doesn't help that the more I attack that less damage I do... then the DoT and AoE...I'm annoyed, frustrated, and lost.
I felt the same way with this boss and the Lost Sinner boss.
If she can't pull her own weight (get the demon past 50% by herself), she isn't worth summoning (although if you go 100% hollow, you get a small damage debuff).
Switch weapons if you need to. ([size=10]cough he can be poisoned[/h])
Just keep trying, my child. If at the first 50 times you don't succeed: keep on succin' till you ceed.
Edit - as much as I was disapointed with this game, I don't want to see somebody stop playing just because of a honorable boss battle.
I spent a few hours mindlessly (sometimes really) trying to kill smelter before/after the post, I don't quite remember, I passed out shortly afterwards. But I looked into some videos (I did not know I could do this) but of people who brought her in with another player (3 vs smelter). I'll try this at some point, from the videos, she doesn't survive in those often either.
(I may have actually failed around 50 times... I kept encountering bugs too, smelter hitting me after I dodged, (instead of being thrown) teleported back into and ending up stuck in a wall, till he has at me. Enemies in the area not spawning, or their hit box not registering unless I entered a certain range from them, to which, this has never happened before. Had the game for a week.)
I wasn't the only one who wasn't completely in love with Dark Souls 2... yay~ Thought I might be too much of a pessimist looking at Dark Souls 2 with negativity and tented nostalgia for Dark Souls.
