The new version ("Retail (improved) Version") that you see in the OP have better spelling and grammar. However, Mangagamer recently released a re-translation of the game and it's not yet uploaded here.

For the above poster, I didn't have luck with the first crack but downloaded the second - replaced files - and it worked.

Oh, both of you, I think I might know what your problem is but it's just an assumption.

I'm assuming this:
After you extracted the rar files, you saw that there was a bunch of files in the folder already, and then you extracted the Crack and just put it in there, then tried to open it. Correct, nothing will happen.

This is something that happens in many of the visual novels provided. Usually after extraction you'll see there's a bunch of files. In most cases, when we get a bunch of files, and if there's a Crack, we're supposed to install the game first using whatever install application was in there after extraction (or sometimes vice versa, the Crack is needed to install, etc.). Then we would put the Crack in there and sometimes the Crack is something that replaces the original execution file. Just remember that for future reference.

But in this case for Edelweiss it's different. I'm assuming if you attempted to install then it would ask you for a Product Key, which you'd have if you have purchased the game. If you haven't then..

For the improved version.
Go to this link then you'll get a system.arc file

Replace that new system.arc file you just downloaded with the one already in the Edelweiss game folder.

Now try activating the Crack you already had (Edelweiss.exe), it should work now.

Do you need BGI.exe from the improved version? My anti virus says it is a trojan virus... so it automatically deletes it...

What you need is the crack that is on the opening post. Put it in the game folder and play. The "BGI.exe" is not necessary.

About your AV detecting a virus, it's a false positive. Put the game folder on the exceptions list or disable your AV.

By the way, this Edelweiss is not the re-translated version that mangagamer released recently.

I wonder what's the problem... There files are corrupted and have downloaded it a few times... Oh well... I guess I'll wait for the re-translated version...

i'm no expert in the japanese language and i've only just downloaded and started playing the retail (newer) version but, why do i feel that most of the translation in the retail version seem kinda off
or is it the same as in the older version?

The retail version in this thread is still the old one. As far as I know, the version that mangagamer released recently (2011-09-02) is not uploaded here.

Thanks for the upload! Started playing and it's going well, but seriously... why are the three buddies so annoyingly retarded morons? I went through the first 30 or so minutes and there hasn't been a single scene with them in it where I didn't want to punch them all in the face and give them a strong groin kick. Appo especially infuriates me... please tell me there's a chance to get rid of them later...

It's a shame too. This looked like such an interesting game...

Well, I personally think that their behavior is over the top some times (seriously -_-) but when you get into the character routes you'll see that the story gets more interesting. I guess that the game wants us to exercise patience lol

Of course that there are people that like those kinds of characters and all the comedy that they're responsible for. It's a matter of tastes.
