do you need to download all of the chapter patches to translate the chapters or just the newest one as i'm gonna download this but wanted to make sure first.

You can either download each patch, which is easier to stay on the set route it translates as diverting from it would mean that it goes into Japanese, or just download chapter 3 which translates chapters one, two and three. The chapter 4 patch however requires chapter 3 to be installed I believe.

Well, let's just say I'm not really fond of what that anon did, distributing a patch with a half done chapter 4 script, regardless of the teams consent. But yeah, i guess it's not really anyone fault, and it's nice that you enjoyed it. Unfortunately Chikan, the translator gone out of motivation for quite some time, and Chapter 5 is left hanging for the months.
But I do encourage people to play only completed edited versions if possible, for the best quality and consistency possible, also to recognize the work done by the editor. That goes for the Never 11 and Osadai.
And yes, I've changed my nick

Many projects too have tools uploaded and scripts fully provided, means you can compile it if you knew how to. But that doesn't really mean you should distribute it out, it's was more like personal use, and kept incase any other interested parties want to work on it. At least the people working on it has expressed dissatisfaction over it.
Btw i'm not saying that it's bad it's bad don't play it. Since it's out, some people will might as well go for it, and some will wait for a better quality release. Not really saying which is good or bad, more like I encourage others to read completed ones.

The more people that play the official one, the quicker it will be TLC/Edited and the sooner they can get too work on the final release.

yeah i understand you there, i myself already worked with translations and i understand how the people who translates want to show their hard work at it's best quality and be credited for it. I myself prefer quality work than "we are the first to do it" and poor quality work but if the time margin for the finished quality work against the "not too bad" work are really great and the quality is not that different i will go for the latter. =D

It was more for people interested in the project, the idea of many projects in tlwiki is to have full transparency, whatever progress done to the script can stay on the site regardless if the translator or people working on it disappears sometime in the future, which is, regretfully quite common.
That way projects on hiatus can stay "available" to people interested, with tools available or scripts done by the previous people, fully open up to the community without any hogging.
And well, yeah, there are many who disagree on that method, thus having all the other translation sites. Amaterasu, Witch Hunt, Yandere etc etc

I just felt an itch of discomfort personally, partly biased because I've read and liked this game a lot, thus not fond of what he did for distributing an unedited and QC-ed patch out which the team was not ready to release yet.
Well, I didn't really expect to discuss about this so much, so it'll be better to keep these talk out and leave it for actual game discussion.

I'm rather happy for the patch, seeing as I was waiting for entire year for it to come out.
I'm starting out again from the very beginning (Chapter 1 - I had to reinstall the game some time ago). The quality is very good, and the minor corrections here and there make it somewhat more...smoother than previous version. It doesn't seem to have any impact on the story-telling compared to what I read earlier, but it's a nice touch.
Now all you can do is hope that they'll be able to start on chapter 5 translation. That's all I'd wish to see done, though I'm sure they're pretty busy with Trial Patch being prepared and Ch. 4 quality check.
