I just have one thing to make note of.
Bioware swore Mass Effect 3 was going to be the last Mass Effect game.
When they did, fans understood. I understood. Games have a tendency to make sequels that suck more and more and more until it feels like we're being taken advantage of with brand names.
They ended the game in a way that guaranteed this.
This guarantee is now pissing people off.
I surmise the following:
Gamers can never be satisfied.
The game doesn't suck because we're never happy with a game.
It's sucks because of the 3 games it's the least enjoyable it's not as good as people were expecting I don't really care about the ending though. It's lacking in any thing new and exciting there is also a lack of seeing other alien races and squad mates that would surely of been happy to fight by my side one more time.
I liked the games in the following order.
Best - ME2
Second - ME3
Third- ME1
So, when you say it's the 'l;east enjoyable' you're wrong. Not only did the ability to hijack mechs add something fun to the game, but so did the omniblade, surprise takedowns, and multiplayer.
There weren't as many side missions as the other two ,and most of those were just excuses to put ME2 characters in for cameos. But, all of them were enjoyable, fun, and unique from the others.
Bare this in perspective with Dragon Age 2, which didn't have anything to do with the first game, and every single side mission was the same thing, over and over, in the exact same 4 dungeon maps.
What I think is happenning is that when people play a game that's good, they have unrealistic expectations for the sequel they know is coming. When the game doesn't live up to these unrealistic expectations of instantaneously gratifying orgasmic action and roleplay experience, players go to forums and go, "WAH! IT WASN'T THE AWESOME GAME I WANTED!"
This is why I remain cynical of all games that come out. I can never be disappointed, I can only be pleasantly surprised. I'm not saying keep your expectations low, but realize when you're asking for too much, and learn to appreciate what you're given. ME3 had a lot of good things about it that nobody seems to want to talk about.
Also, side note, I always find it hilarious when someone picks up a sequel, and bitches about how there's nothing 'new' about it from the other game...that they liked.
Wouldn't that be a good thing? Don't fix what isn't broken?
