[font=verdana][color=green]From what I have seen about MW3, it does look very good. The bringing in of Survival mode is a welcome addition, but of course it was bound to come in at some point. The new perk system is interesting as well; as is, of course, the new perks themselves.
However, I still feel as if no material change has ever befallen the Call of Duty franchise since the first Modern Warfare. All I've ever seen is another lick of paint, add a few more perks to the multiplayer and that's that. The only thing that's impacted upon the genre is Spec Ops, but even then, co-op isn't exactly new either. Each game roughly feels the same anyway, so I could, quite easily, play each of the games and not feel a remote bit of difference in it.
I'll buy it for the campaign and the spec ops, but the multiplayer will only be more of the same.
Agreed. The series has definitely stagnated since Call of Duty 4. I can only conclude they know of their critical success that the franchise has become as a result of Call of Duty 4, and it's off-spring, and are now too afraid to take the chance at trying something new in fear of losing some of their die-hard fans, and a potential profit loss as well.
Unless something drastic happens, Modern Warfare 3 will be my last Call of Duty game.
Honestly, the entire genre is stagnating beyond belief. I love the audacity that Westerners have for the RPG market (especially JRPGs) when the same can be said of the FPS market. There hasn't been any real innovation in the genre for as many years as their has been no innovations in the RPG market.
Perhaps it would be more prudent to stop trying to say your competitors are falling into stagnation and concentrate your efforts on making sure you don't stay in stagnation. -_-
