Play Rance 8 when Alicesoft makes it (nothing you can do in this game).

Where your national power comes from is meaningless. How is your power as compared to your cost? If you're at 56/56 for example I know you can't recruit anyone from scouting, and probably not from purple events either. That's the only thing I can think of.

I have a few open slots. Like 2 or three. I think I have like 56-61 or 62

Dunno what the issue is then. She should be available from a purple event in Sado.


And on the topic of unreasonable recruiting... is there something special I need to do to capture Kikkawa Kiku? I've killed her like 15 times with someone having the passive "Defeated Warrior Hunt". I've even gone so far as to make sure the killing blow was a "Light Attack"- the one that's supposed to improve capture rate. I've killed her both before and after the uncursing. I have plenty of space in the jail and I have both her sisters in my roster (not taking part in any of the fighting though). Is there anything else anyone can think of that would help me out?

Barring that, does anyone have a save they could share that would allow me to do her character clear (and get the 4some scene)? Preferably with as much gameplay left on the same as possible... ideally right after her capture.

That unfortunately I do not know.

I believe one of the requirements to get Kikkawa is to do the large brawl event first, I've killed her numerous times before doing that and got nothing, tried after that and it worked out fine. If you're attempting to get her from Shimazu house (in either Ran IF route or the kill the monkey route) then I'm uncertain as to what needs to be done there if anything.

Ugh this Byakko fight keeps wiping me out. Any pointers?

I've been doing dungeon sweeps each turn to level up all my captains, however I am quickly running out of dungeons. How many turns do you have to defeat Xavier at hoonouji?

I have Uesugi with the ryuugu sword and the tengu monk (forgot his name but he usually attacks with pandas) Rance as an 8 att stat and ranmaru as a 7 attack with the murasame sword buff.

in my opinion... ranmaru is better off holding ryuugyu sword and kenshin is better off with murasame,

as for byakko... what i do is, I just keep my commanders at stand by before rengoku transforms into byakko, like that I still have a lot of action flags, or in some cases I just make my foot soldier use ally guard to prevent rengoku from damaging rance or ranmaru/kenshin

after that... just kill byakko before he can do serious damage... some casualties can't be helped but at least try to keep rance's health to full, cuz after that you'll go after Xavier and you can't have rance dying on you...

either that or just wait for the do over that alice offers its -4 points but it'll do...

What "IF" route should I start first?

Nanjo Ran is the easiest. Be warned that this route has two endings, so don't cap her affection till you see the first one.

Yamamoto Isokuru is the most like the true path, but probably the most difficult (I had an awful lot of fronts open at one point.)

Kenshin is not too bad, but it can be really awkward if you're not familiar with recruitment processes, so you're probably want to wait until you've had one play where you've gone through and recruited everyone you possibly can.

Kill the monkey route is my favorite.

Story wise I'd say Isoroku > Ran > Kenshin

Kenshin route felt very random, i failed utterly the first time i tried it cause xavier kept defeating all the people close to me before Kenshin could so i decided to do the ran route instead (had already done Isoroku) which was nice and easy. And when i tried Kenshin again Xavier defeated the people far away from me instead and it was really easy.
