Well, I thought it would be more authentic to use an actual playthrough than to splice together the best of a handful of videos, so I went for one that seemed solid.
It's not in the annotations, but in the desciption of the first video:
This is intended to be a guide for people starting out playing touhou. I'm not an amazing player myself, but wanted to show people that these games can definitely be cleared by the average person. This will have some tips and commentary to illustrate some of the finer points of gameplay that might not be immediately obvious from viewing the perfect runs that are popular around here.
Okay next question, not trying to be defensive but rather looking for actual constructive critecism.
Was I really "not showing the key movements to the individual cards at all" ? Because if I wasn't able to show it, then maybe my understanding is fundamentally flawed.
I've toyed around a bit with the Kanako fight in response. Wall 'o Text condensed.
First non-spellcard: Nothing to really see here.
Spellcard Divive Festival: It would seem that my reactions have gotten better since i first started using the "guide them away" strategy and I can just ignore them and focus on her entirely, but could a brand new player do that?
Non-spellcard: Main video sucked here, which is why I linked a video on how to do it right.
Spellcard God's Rice Porrige: Is there even any key movement to show?
Non-spellcard: I clipped something towards the end, but I don't think the concept was failed to show.
Spellcard Sacrifice Sign: As I mentioned, I've never sucessfully captured this one, after failing to capture it on practice mode I've sucessfully dodged like 8 rounds in a row while not firing. If there is a better way to approach this spellcard, please tell me.
Non-spellcard: Is there some better advice one could be giving a new player?
Spellcard Heaven's Stream: I know I bombed, but is there a better way to do it than how I showed before bombing?
Spellcard Mountain of Faith: Nothing really to show here, either you hold composure then entire fight or you don't, so I don't think any kind of commentary or idealized run would help. EDIT: Actually I think I can definitely improve this one, like specifying which cards to sidestep and which to through.
