Hmm, honestly I'm not to sure how to help ya on that one, I haven't used XP in quite a while, I know that this DOES work on XP since that was originally where I was playing it on. But I've never run into that problem before so I can't really think of anything that would fix it at the moment, I'll try and look into it and see if I can find anything out, but right now I can't help sorry.
EDIT: Okay well I did some poking around and so far the most I've been able to find for XP not being able to run it right is that you need to change it from 32bit to 16bit color. Ooooor the download was corrupted or something like that in which case....try redownloading or something, I'll still do some poking around and see if I can come up with anything. Make sure the exe file you're using is from the patches folder

Ya know I somehow overlooked completely the "new laptop" part, drivers or direct x probably are the most likely problem here then. lol thanks for noticing that, can't believe I completely overlooked that stuff, guess I just assumed everything was up to date for them

Just checked. Direct X is at version 9, which is already what the game nees. I will try install direct X 9c...how do I know if my graphics card is up to date? (I'm sure the graphics card is up to date as my sister is using this laptop to play starcraft 2...)
Update: Tried installing latest DirectX, still doesn't work. Any other things I should check?
P.S. Just tried changing it to 16bit color. The file stays open for a split second longer...but...Still doesn't work...:( Also used the file in the patch, as well! Should I try compatibility mode?

If nothing else has worked so far, and you've updated all your drivers and everything like that, then trying compatibility mode is really one of the only other things I can advise to do aside from completely reinstalling the game.

when the ACT4 intall screws up for what reason ever you have to uninstall it beforehand.
use the revo Uninstaller.
If you use Vista let the ACT4 patch run as administrator and switch off the whole "you need permission to continue" (forgot the english name for it)
worked fine for me

I can't figure out where to go once I install BMW 2 and onward. There's no desktop shortcut or start menu shortcut or anything. What do I do?

If you installed them all to the same folder like you're supposed to then you shouldn't have any problems finding them. Have the graphics patch in the same folder you installed to run the patch from there. Should work after that.

How do I star one of the games individually? All I see is one "bmw" file. Is that all four games in one, or is each BMW game a chapter of one game?
Put the patch in the same folder and it froze, so I closed it. Now it's telling me I already have the latest patch when I clearly don't and the game still crashes when I enter a fight, though the two may be unrelated.
