Because it's a rule, apparently. No evil spirits were allowed to be summoned. That was obeyed up until the 4th war. After the corruption of the 3rd war, evil heroes were allowed to be summoned. Yet, Hassans were still summoned in the 1st and 2nd wars. Either Nasu made a huge plot fail, or the Hassans' personalities/actions were unimportant to their entries in the wars.

Yea, I don't get what the fuck it's trying to say in that third paragraph. It's saying that the requirement noted above, "operate steathily, covertly, and silently" was based in the rationale that those who are perfect assassins would thus be anonymous killers, and thus, incapable of being Heroic Spirits. But because the Grail apparently really wants to have assassins in it's war, it takes Hassah, even though the Heroic Spirits it summons should generally be clearly "good". And so I reread it and tried to explain it, as in my paragraph shows.

I see. I thought you were trying to come to your own conclusions on the matter, not merely paraphrase it.

Well (according to the page), the name of the sect (Hashshashin-a medieval Islamic sect) is the etymological root of the word "assassin," and the class name itself thus acts as the catalyst to summon the members of the organization.

So, since Hassan is basically the origin of assassin, assassins are always one of the Hassans. Why? I don't know. Why did the creators of the HGW want assassins? Don't know. But, it was part of the system, as I've stated before.

Basically, I just want to say that...

Evil heroes and anti-heroes cannot be summoned during the 3rd HGW. Sure, Avenger (who was an anti-hero) was summoned during the 3rd one, but that was because of the Einzbern family. After he was quickly killed, he caused the corruption which allowed evil heroes to be summoned. HOWEVER, Avenger himself isn't necessarily evil. Anti-heroes aren't always evil heroes.

So basically, purely malicious heroes (like Gille de Rais in Fate/zero) can't be summoned.

Let me explain.

Jubstacheit von Einzbern, is the current head of the Einzbern and also participant of the 3rd holy grail war. In their desperation to winning the war (Einzberns have never won a single war due to their specialty being alchemy which is unsuitable for combat to being with) they summoned Avenger, aka Angra Mainyu. They thought by summoning the avenger would it contain power easily capable of killing every master and servant of the war. However Avenger turned out to be extremely weak and was quickly annihilated thus resulting in another defeat for the Einzberns and also the corruption of the holy grail. Them summoning Avenger has also cause Berserker class to be missing for that war alone.

With the holy grail tainted, evil-aligned heroic spirits can be summoned such as Gilles de Rias and Medusa. Before that only "good" heroic spirits were allowed summoned.

Hiroyuki explained it well; however, I don't remember if he got the name right. I don't remember that name being in the VN, but I do remember Illya explaining the whole thing during Heaven's Feel.

However, as Hiroyuki mentioned/implied, summoning Avenger wasn't really an accident... Huh, that reminded me of something.

If Avenger and Saver are going to be in the RP, I don't think random people should be able to summon them. Yes, you mentioned earlier that it's not going to be set in the same world as Fate/stay night, but still. Those classes aren't normal; the Einzberns were probably only able to summon Avenger since they were one of the founders of the HGW. So, how would you explain an average magus summoning a class that hasn't been seen for the past 2 wars? Of course, if you plan to make Avenger and Saver normal classes (since it's a different world), then that's fine. But, why would they come out later then?

Do we really need to rationalize everything? It's suppose to be fiction so we can just make something up. This is for fun so there's no need to be so uptight about it.

Nasuverse demands it. But really after i realize Rise wants it to be Riseverse, i stopped being a tightass about it. I started this debated and i ended it, but little i know why it's up again. I'm confused myself. =\

I wonder if I should watch any of the Fate anime before this RP starts...

@Damien: Hiro explained it in his first sentence, but let me expand on that a bit.

One of the things that (I think) makes Fate/stay night better than Bleach, Air Gear, DBZ, and other generic shounens is its consistency. There's no blatant "I BELIEVE IN MAH FRENDS SO I GET TEH POWA" deus ex machina shit that is usually prevalent in such action series. Almost everything is explained in Fate/stay night; that's one of the things that make it great. I could go on, but I think that's enough.

@Hiro: I wasn't informed on when this debate ended. I looked through previous posts and there was no clear "that's settled" thing. If you mean this...

Yeah I understand that. But we can just summon Anti-heroes right? We can just ignore that one rule for the sake of fun. We're not gonna fight like in Bleach. It's all rationalized. Just that the one rule of not being able to summon anti-heroes taken off. Isn't that good?

You first get the servants, then make the master, so if you get Avenger or Saver, you have create some kind of a situation or something to start off with, with which you show [i]how[/u] Avenger or Saver is summoned. Does that explain properly? I'm still drowsy...

Also, should a magi from Einbern be the only one able to summon Avenger or Saver? I think a Tohsaka or Matou magi could too?

Or does the magi need to specifically be of high caliber?

Btw Dameien, I want to avoid making changes to the rules as much as possible, following those complex and understandable rules are what brings more and more fun to it, at least that's how I like to think.

I've watched all of Fate/Extra... should probably watch Fate/Stay Night then...

You can watch Fate/Stay Night but... the VN is way better.
