Looking for Judges for a contest I'd like to host.

So I've been thinking for quite a long while, about hosting a Summer Writing Contest. It's idea rose up at the end of the Seasonal Writing Contest, I simply felt inspired, and I still am.

This thread is not it's main thread. It is made for people to apply to become judges for the contest that I shall host soon and for people to be able to discuss it, before I can start it at all. I'd like to have a panel of three judges. Hence, I require two people to apply and panel with me. Of course, I'll have to be looking at their capabilities as writers.

So, for those of you who decides to apply, by posting: I'd like you to give me a few good reasons for which you think that you're capable to be a judge along with me for this contest! You may link some of your good works (to show your superior writing, perhaps?) or give links of posts where you review others' works, but it's okay if you don't do something like that, just give me the reasons and I'll definitely be considering you.

In case anyone wants information about the contest itself and it's rules. I don't think it's a good idea to make most of the rules up by myself. Instead, I'd like to first discuss about them with the other judges. Which is why I didn't make any concrete rules up, yet. What you'll be reading in the following are basically considerations, nothing is finalized.


Here are some basic details regarding the contest:

- Word limit: 1000~2000 (a specific limit will be picked from 1000 to 2000, basically). There may be a chance that I may allow a much more larger stories and hence increase it past 3000, but I wouldn't consider that just yet.

- Theme/genre: Summer and horror (I need more suggestions regarding this, but summer should be broad enough.)

- Prize: I'm preparing it... if I'm successful, I'm sure that it'll be worth it.

Users who cannot be recommended out of their busyness is only Jericho Antares, so far.

Hmm...I want to suggest something, is it acceptable if we recommend some other people that we view as one of capable writers? This idea is based on a viewpoint that not only the judge should be a capable writer, but a personality that the majority of this section approves.

If we recommend ourselves as a good writer the community might also think otherwise, it probably will even spark some unwanted drama if the said writer isn't really open to direct criticism =)

Though you might place some names in a blacklist given as they don't have any free time for judging~

Hmm.... well, if the reasons can be proved up to some extent, by posting links, for example. Wouldn't it be acceptable? However, I do agree that the community may think otherwise anyway.

Blacklist? I can only think of Jericho Antares, I suppose. Since I'm certain that he's busy.

You might probably want to add his name first since I figure many people might want to recommend him as a judge

Ah that's also an important matter too. Well you can do it since you did great on the previous winter contest~

Hopefully... what really worries me here is that he takes a long time to reply sometimes, lol.

That would be a serious problem indeed if it drags on too long xD

Though if the reception from the community are good enough I'm certain that he most likely will approve of this event~

I would like to recommend high_time. I've been reading his story, and I think that high_time would make for a good judge.

Just to clarify, my exam period is about from June 20th to July 3rd with 6 courses at bay~

It won't be much of a hindrance if I studied a bit from now and I could spend some time on judging stuff between working on my projects and studying...that's it if I'm applicable for this position~

For the judges recommendation, I would like to nominate Find_Vega as a candidate. Taking a brief view on his general style, he got some really nice writing structure which at the same time provides a smooth read and easy-to-understand storytelling. I figure this as the style of an experienced writer. Though I haven't seen posts about him reviewing, I'm confident that he at least could provide some great feedback towards the participants from a Writer's viewpoint~

Looking about the other stuff I last heard from him that he's been fired up for the contest and he's probably free at that moment, so why don't give him a surprise by offering him the judge position in case he's eligible for it? =)

On another note: Tsuyoshiro saw this thread, if I can't find any legitimate writers who are fit to be judges from my view, then I shall take him in. Just saying it in advance. Though I'd refrain from doing that for now.
