From the blast, a black serpent-like thing slithered out. Seems that Haruka underestimated the witch.
CHARLOTTE came after Haruka with its great speed. It was before Haruka's face before she knew it. Haruka was in a state of panic, and jumped. But to her dismay,
CHARLOTTE, was fast enough to bite Haruka even as she jumped off. It succeeded at biting her left arm off.
Menolly stifled a screamed at seeing Haruka's arm being bit off, covering her eyes in horror and feeling hot tears burn at her eyes.
"This isn't real, this isn't happening, wake up, wake up..." she whispered to herself, kneeling down and praying that she'd soon wake up and Yuiko would be snoring beside her. She'd go to school and greet Haruka... Haruka would be fine... Haruka would be smiling at her, telling her good morning and Menolly would be so glad that they're friends.
Blood gushed out, Haruka squealed in pain. Having her left arm missing now, it was more difficult than before to fight this monster. Haruka was now sweating profusely, unknowing of what to do or how to kill it. In pain, tears flew out through her eyes.
Feeling completely useless, all the huddled girl could do was rock herself in comfort and try to ignore the scene in front of her, no matter how real it seemed.
"Haruka... Haruka..." Menolly sobbed out, wishing she could do something, anything. She wished she wasn't so damn
afraid.
She hadn't changed at all, had she? Despite how strong her resolve to be brave was that morning and just a mere few minutes ago, here she was reduced to a sniffling heap at a single nightmare. Clenching her fists, Menolly gathered up everything inside of her and stood up, walking stiffly over to the ongoing battle between Haruka and the creature. She felt sick from the sight of the other girl's arm and the stench of blood, but she made herself bare it as she continued closer. She stopped when she was still a fair distance away, but enough for the monster to see her. Even if she couldn't fight like Haruka could, she could at least distract the thing and let her friend run. Whether this was real, or a nightmare, no matter how afraid and sick she felt, Menolly would stand her ground and keep her word.
She would protect.
CHARLOTTE continued its attacks and slithered after Haruka as she barely kept avoiding it, she knew that she'd soon be caught if she kept up being evasive, but nothing still came to her mind, until she realized that it set its eyes towards Menolly... after she managed to distance herself.
Menolly-chan!? W-What the hell is she doing here?! More so, I didn't even realize it... , Haruka rushed to Menolly's rescue, after witnessing
CHARLOTTE going to her direction,
Menolly-chan!!" Haruka yelled, calling out her name. Dashing ever faster than ever, Haruka raced with the witch to reach Menolly. Haruka took a shortcut, using her magic
Spirit Leap she went through the walls of cream and cake, and suddenly came out from the bulge of cake to her right. Haruka then threw her conjoined twin blades, then firmly waved her ony her to the right, after which, countless conjoined twin blades appeared behind her. Haruka then waved her arm forward towards the staring
CHARLOTTE, as if commanding her weapons.
CHARLOTTE tried to eat the weapons after opening its mouth wide.
As the creature drew closer to her, Menolly started shaking, but she still forced her feet to stay put. She heard Haruka yell her name and looked over at her quickly, flinching back as her friend emerged from the desserts and huge chunks of cake were thrown everywhere. She stepped to the side to avoid one such piece and watched as Haruka tried to distract the monster, unsure of what to do. She took a step closer to the other girl for a small sense of comfort, but the monster staring them in the face shook her to the core.
Haruka took this chance to hold Menolly on her arm, and took off to the air. Haruka ran, dashed, jumped, leaned; in an attempt to take Menolly to a safer location, though she knew that she wouldn't be able to hide for long on the witch's hunting ground.
At Haruka pulling her arm, Menolly tried to look at their surroundings but found her focus lost in Haruka's speed. She know they sped by many kinds of sweets, but that was nothing new - Menolly had a weird feeling, as if she should be looking for something. She figured it was probably just the anxiety and fear and brushed it off, instead choosing to wish that they'd make a safe escape.
Haruka put Menolly down on the soft, creamy and puffy floor, what surrounded them were donuts and huge biscuits. Haruka then placed her own hand to where her wound was located, to her dismembered left arm, and a light appeared around it. Haruka's left arm pulled through out of the light; fully renewed as if it wasn't bit off.
Menolly watched as Haruka touched her wounds and flinched at the gruesome sight and the smell of her flesh and blood, but she was genuinely curious as to what the other girl was doing and watched as a light appeared around her arm. In wonder, her arm was completely regenerated. If she hadn't seen it happen in front of her own eyes, Menolly never would have guessed that Haruka didn't have a left arm the moment before.
"Haruka-san, how can you-"
"Please stay put here while I go and defeat this witch, don't try to do anything stupid and have me worry about you now," said Haruka, very firm on her words, but giving a reassuring smile, trying to say
"I'll be back, so wait for me here."
Cut off, she listened intently to what Haruka said. Although it sounded like she was being scolded, Menolly could hear the genuine concern for her in her voice. She smiled back at the other girl, giving a slight nod and replying,
"Alright. I'll wait here - but please be careful," her voice cracked,
"Please come back." She felt hot tears stinging her eyes, but wiped them away before they could fall.
"I'll definitely be back!" said Haruka, staring at the direction of the Witch, though she missed the last line Menolly uttered as she sprung off towards the monster.
Before one would know it, Haruka stood before
CHARLOTTE; seemingly ready for combat. The lass's blades materialized, but before Haruka took stance, the rampant Witch's mouth opened wide; swallowing Haruka in one go after quickly reaching her - munching happily thinking that she ate her. But to her dismay, Haruka magically came out from her back of her head, another one of her magic
Spirit Leaping.
Left alone, Menolly sniffled and looked around at her surroundings some more. She didn't know what to do. Haruka told her to stay here, but all she
really wanted to do was be by her side and protect her... Even though she knew that in this situation, she was useless, she couldn't quell the desire. She sniffled and wished hard for her friend to be alright.
Right after she came out, Haruka made a slash on the back of the head of
CHARLOTTE after slicing through it's skin from behind.
CHARLOTTE roared at pain. Haruka then stabbed her conjoined blade to it's back - after which -
CHARLOTTE could be seen slightly shaking its body from the shock given off from the blades, it was the other effect that her spell
Sparkling Blades could cause; paralyzing
CHARLOTTE temporarily. Even though it was temporary, Haruka felt that it was enough time for her to come out as the victor of this battle.
As
CHARLOTTE groaned, Haruka's blades appeared all over and around
CHARLOTTE, surrounding it, then, each blade moved to
CHARLOTTE each blade going through the pure black skin of the enemy Witch on Haruka's elegant gesture.
The Witch fell to the puffy cream-ground; its body dissipated. The environment soon returned to normal; Menolly and Haruka found themselves inside the abandoned cafe, as the grief seed slowly but steadily landed on the floor. Haruka walked over to the Witch's egg as it stood firm on the dusty and unclean floor and picked it up.
"And there, I'm back, Menolly-chan!"
She gasped, confused and surprised that the place they were just in returned to that of the cafe they were in before. Her eyes watering, Menolly smiled at Haruka and told her she was glad that she was safe.
Haruka's clothes started to return to her previous form; the Mitakihara high school uniform, through a white light that briefly engulfed her body.
"So, would you like an explanation or would rather wish to forget about all of this? I'm fine with either of them, and see benefits on both sides, and so; it's your call now, Menolly-chan."
Watching the girl's clothes transform again, Menolly started to think that this really wasn't a dream. The whole time she'd felt like it was real even as she forced the thoughts from her mind and made it into a dream. The choice was hers, Haruka had said. As curious as she was, she was also horrified at the thought that such things happen. She also wanted to be closer to Haruka... and if she said no now, that's one thing they'd probably never bring up again. Even if she said yes, it's not like she was condemning herself, right? Haruka would just tell her what all of this was.
Knowledge is never a waste, Menolly mused to herself, mulling over her decision for a few minutes.
"Alright," she started,
"Please tell me, Haruka-san."
Menolly only hoped she wouldn't regret it.
"Very well then, why we should go to a place more suitable for having a proper conversation. We should leave this dead cafe and go to a normal cafe instead," said Haruka as a reply to Menolly, as she started to embark her way out of the rigid place. Haruka expects Menolly to be right behind her, following.
Menolly agreed, nodding her head in consent and following Haruka out of the cafe.
"W-wait!" she called out,
"Maybe we should take a rest for today.. it seems it's been a long day for both of us. If it's alright with your parents, maybe one of us could stay at the other's house for the night, or we could catch up right in the morning," she said shyly, fidgeting with her hands. Menolly played with the ends of her hair, gingerly fingering the silvery strands as she waited for a reply.
"Well, we're having guests over later today... there's a chance that my mom may not like me inviting you over on such a day. My apologies, Menolly-chan, I'd love to do that any other day though," Haruka answered while looking down, slightly.
She nodded in understanding and gave Haruka a soft smile.
"It's alright, I understand. I almost forgot that my sister was visiting, too, so now I feel bad," Menolly giggled, her cheeks pink, trying to lighten the dark mood a little. Although, in all the strange happenstances she had almost forgotten about Yuiko...
"I do hope that your offer of an explanation is still alright after today - maybe we can meet up for coffee or tea after school tomorrow?" she inquired, tilting her head slightly and fidgeting with the ends of her hair in further embarrassment.
"Of course, then it's decided, we meet up on a cafe tommorrow after school, we'll decide which cafe tomorrow, and don't come up with excuses now! And now, I shall take my leave, Menolly-chan, take care now!" said Haruka, while walking away.
Menolly giggled at Haruka's response and nodded to the girl, parting with her and going home. Yuiko questioned her when she got to her apartment, but exhausted from the day's events, the white-haired girl passed out on top of her futon almost immediately. Her older sister shook her head in amusement and concern, brushed Menolly's bangs behind her ear, and clicked off their lamp to go to sleep.
((OOC: Thus, Menolly's day ends here.))
