Seasonal Writing Contest Final Round!

Or an MWC (Monthly Writing Competition). I think enough people here enjoy writing for the sake of writing for us to hold them frequently and not offer prizes.

Does anyone know why it was removed from the front page so quickly? The poll is still going on for several more days.

So one is sad they did not get to the finals and someone was told cheating is a no no. I've gotten a couple of negative reps for this thread actually, the nice people of Fakku usually keep giving it back though.

I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions, but my late-December reminder was also removed after a few hours, as Jacob felt we'd shared enough attention with the hardworking scanlators. I persuaded him to keep that up for the few days it was needed, but this being the fourth(?) time it's been promoted there, he might have done so again.

The sticky might have caused it as there have been lots of issues with them, but I was under the impression that said problem was sorted.

You're right Dos. That is exactly what it was. Apparently, a new rule was made just yesterday about 1 front page per contest.

Slightly disappointing. I can see the logic, but other established contests are either run by Jacob, or (like Garfest or the Waifu game) are in popular parts of the forum and self-perpetuating.

I am immensely proud of the response to this competition (entries and brand new members), the renewed interest in the section and the keenness for sequels, but it seems both unfair on us organisers, who need all the help we can get to try and make this a fixture, and the many entrants who won't otherwise get the plaudits.

But all things considered, I would call this a success. So far. :p

Coming from a member who left his status as a lurker for this very contest, I can only express my most sincere gratitude for its existence. Without it, I would still be checking Fakku only once every two weeks or so to update on the front page news. Now, due to the contest and the friends I've made on the forums...Well, I'm damn near obsessed always having the forums up on the threads that are important for me to check and refresh them every day or little while or so. So, it was quite effective and I'm appreciative of it.

Though when I think about it, this contest took a lot and has been going on for almost an entire month. Future contests are appealing, as long as we keep the work going into them from the writers and judges into consideration.
