Seasonal Writing Contest Final Round!

Too much competitions could make the themes featured in this section rather monotonous. As we know most contests are focused on a major theme. We should give some time between contests for those who want their writings to get more attention without the regards to the themes.

If we have some person in here who is epic at drawing and shit.. Perhaps.. just perhaps, you could make a writing competition, where the winner get's their story made into a doujin? or something.. (implying sexual stories)

I've known some users at the Art section that's damn good at drawing. You could find them more active on Deviantart than here though.

You'd better ask Kuroneko 1/2 about that idea though. He's pretty much one of the few senior members on the section that's still active.

I have an idea for the prize but I think everyone will disagree.

Basically, the idea is, have the "FAKKU Writer" rank passed on to the winner of the latest contest or we could have each title of each FAKKU Writing contests, example: Valentine's FAKKU Writer. And have each titles passed on to the winner on each contests.

Haha, I actually thought the same thing Rise-chan. But I came to the conclusion that the prize for winning shouldn't be passed on like a WWE belt. Truth is, I'm not entirely sure what the rank will be yet, Jacob said I should chose what I think is best. I might ask what the winner wants, and go with that - if it is within reason.

The problem I thought with giving a "Seasonal contest winner" rank is that it is cumbersome, and that it will seem silly in July. For now, I have defaulted on "Fakku Writer". I'm trying to think of something else since this rank seems to imply that the user writes all Jacobs jokes.

EDIT: How about, "Award Winning Author". A little too over the top?

Well I think any ranks on FAKKU have the name 'FAKKU' in it, so it'll be a little bit weird, hmmm how about, "Christmas Writer"? Nah taht seems chiche. Well I think the default is the bast one.

I was supposed to be like you but I was never able to leave this place. I even ran to the web cafe whenever it was possible back then

just a little idea, but maybe there could be a tab for competitions (like next to the conventions tab - there seems to be enough space...)

Not just for the Writing section, but also for the others, for example there is a competition in the Food section now, Soba Scans did a art/car thing a while ago and we musnt forget all the other current competitions/games).
Possible benefits could be that users can see the collection of current competitions, It doesnt take away any recognition from the scanlation groups and stuff like that.

Games are meant for the chat topics and games though. And I think it would be bad for this section cause its traffic would decrease again.

That sound neat, but the question is if there are actually enough contest on a consistent basis to warrant something like that. Like Rise-chan said, games are games. But if there were enough contest, that would be different.

Yeah like hoards of contests but too many contests would kinda seem weird plus this contest will lose its charm and value a little bit.

you should maybe 4 or so a year? give it some variety?

If not, have a fair few, but mix up the rules a bit..
eg:
Have one with like a minimum 1,000 limit, max 1,500. Must be to do with an anime.. must contain a mention of fakku.. etc.
Get some rules in there to make them think and squirm ;D

I think that a bi-monthly contest would work, and we don't need it to be seasonal. On another forum where I've taken part in BMWCs we've had themes like Cinematic Combat, Musical Interpretation, and so on. All we'd need is a dedicated thread for people to post their contest theme ideas.

If I were to do another contest ladies and gentlepeople, I would do it on :drumroll: ghost stories or scary stories. This would take place during the summer when scary story stuff usually happens.

The rules would state that it does not have to be actually scary (I don't even like scary stories since I'm a fraidy cat), but that horror would be only be the theme. So something like Scooby-Doo would count. It isn't actually scary, but it has those themes of horror.

If someone wanted, it could still be a comedy. However, if someone wanted to write a macabre story, it would fit great. That was something I thought might of put some at a disadvantage this time around - if it wasn't happy, people might not of voted for it since the somber mood was against the holiday spirit.

That'd be great, actually. I for one have never done any horror-based works, and seeing everyone try their hands at it would be a nice set of reads.
