Second_Prototype's Space Adventure (CYOA)

You return to the research lab. By now the ship has become fully pressurized again but the lingering radio active dust requires you to use your air filter.

The lab is more or less how you left it but whatever was frozen in the cryo pod is now no longer there. You get a message over your personal comm link.

[There now we no longer need to communicate through that crude keyboard interface. I need you to acquire several chemicals stocked in this lab: Chlorine, Sulfur and Arsenic. I also need you to remove the lab replicator's primary nano-bot hive. Once you have done these things you must return to the aft section of the ship and find the life support system.]

[Aaand the thing in the cryo pod is gone... I guarantee you it will try to kill us at the most inconvenient moment.]


1. Get the stuff for the Rosken's AI then head to Life Support.
2. See if you can find a way off the ship.
4. Fuck that, go to another part of the ship.

I hope the thing that was in the cryo pod was a chick with big boobs.

[Be careful what you wish for...]

After some searching you manage to find the required chemicals. Removing the the lab replicator's nano-bot hive proves to be a little tricky but nothing that you can't handle.

After you secure the items you head off to the aft section of the ship again. However you find your path blocked by a little bunny rabbit. Perhaps this was one of the test animals in the lab, but if that was the case then how did it survive in a radioactive vacuum for 10 years? The fur around it's mouth is tinted red.


1. Shoot it! Shoot it now!.
2. Keep calm, slowly draw your pistol, aim, THEN shoot it.
3. It's just a bunny, step over it and be on your way.
4. Convert one of your food cubes into a vegetable and use it to lure the bunny away.

Yeah, I don't think this bunny eats vegetables. But it's just a little thing right?
I choose #2 Keep calm and shoot the fucking thing

You slowly draw your pistol. The bunny tenses up and wiggles it's nose at you but doesn't do much else. You carefully aim down the sights and line up a head shot and when you're sure you have a shot you pull the trigger.

The PEW blot goes straight through the bunny's head blasting it apart. If it ever was a threat it sure isn't now.

You manage to reach the primary life support system without further incident. As soon as you do you are contacted by the ship's AI again.

[Excellent, for a moment there I didn't think you'd make it. Now I require you to install the nano-bot hive on the life support system then feed each of the chemicals into the main induction valve.]

[You sure you wanna just do everything it says? Chlorine, Arsenic? Sounds like it's trying to fabricate a toxin for distribution throughout the ship.]

I mean, what's the worse that can happen?

You install the nano-bot hive in the specified location and begin feeding the chemicals into the induction valve. As you are about to empty the last canister you hear the sound of something being smashed outside the room.

Then the door you came through abruptly caves inward. Something outside is about to smash it right out of the frame.

What do you do?

1. Ready a weapon and hide in the corner to the side of the door.
2. Hide amongst the machinery.
3. Look for another way out of the room.
4. Slump against the wall and play dead.

Is this gonna be like amnesia: the dark descent?

((Hmm... that gives me an idea for a completely different CYOA >:3))

[Only if you start finding notes written by you to you.]

You quickly squeeze yourself in between to large whirring machines. Just as you push yourself out of sight the door flys off it's frame and smashes into the other side of the room.

You hear heavy foot steps and a growling noise. For a time you stay huddled in your hiding place until the noises die down. Then you slip out of your hiding place. Whatever was in the room is gone now. You insert the last chemical into the induction valve.

[Excellent work. I will now be able to prepare a corrosive toxin that will cleanse this ship of biological contaminants. Please stand by while I distribute it throughout this vessel.]

As you stand there green gas starts to pour out of vents in the ceiling.

What do you do?

1. ... standby.
2. Find a way off the ship.

Turn on my air infiltration, then find a way off the ship.

The toxin is so virulent that even your suit's filter cannot clean it from the air. The suit automatically seals itself and switches back to its auxiliary air supply.

You do a quick check on a nearby computer terminal. There are escape pods near the crew quarters and there is also a space parachute in the cargo bay. More worryingly you notice the outer skin of your space suit starting to dissolve.

[I am truly sorry human but I cannot risk any biological entities leaving this ship and spreading the contaminant that has mutated and zombified it's crew. The gas will eventually breach your suit and kill you. If you want a quick and painless death I suggest you shoot yourself now. ]

Uh oh...

1. Go for the Space Parachute in the Cargo Bay.
2. Get to an Escape Pod.
3. Shoot yourself.

Hold my fucking breath #2 Get to an escape pod! Space parachuting sounds really dangerous!

You run to the escape pods, along the way you encounter a zombie whose flesh melts from it's bones even as it tries to claw at you.

Just as you reach the escape pods you hear a clanging noise and some kind of monstrous creatures drops from the ceiling between you and the nearest pod. The gas has clearly done a number on it as it completely skinless and you can see patches of it's flesh dissolving. Even if it's dying it sure isn't dying fast enough. The monster roars and staggers towards you.

You don't have time for this!

1. Overclock your exoskeleton and charge right through it.
2. Blast away with your pistol.
3. Jam a grenade into it's mouth.
4. Shoot it in the leg then rush past it while it's down.
5. Try to distract the monster.
6. Something else?

Ain't nobody got time for dis shit.

[I'm the Juggernaut Bitch!]

You overclock your suit's exoskeleton and run straight at the monster. Before it even knows what hit's it you slam into it's stomach and knock it on it's ass. You step on it's face as you leap into the escape pod.

The pod is one of those small shuttle-like models built to carry about 5 people. You make your way to pilot seat and strap yourself in. You hear a wet "thud" behind you but don't look back, being completely focused on getting off the ship. As soon as your crash harness is secure you slam your fist on the launch button. Your stomach lurches as the pod is fired out into space.

You somehow manage to bring the pod down near the ruins Dr. Averlyn was talking about. The landing was a bit rough, as you remove yourself from the pilot's seat you can tell you've got a lot of new bruises. Much of your suit's outer shell has been badly degraded by the corrosive gas, reducing the effectiveness of your armour and radiation shielding. Your exoskeleton has also suffered some minor damage, and can no longer be overclocked to provide a boost to your strength and speed.

[Ugh...your friggin head hurts. I shudder to think how I'll feel if you ever go binge drinking.]

To your horror there appears to be some kind of bloated organic mass attached to the rear section of the pod. It looks like something made it off Rosken with you. The mass looks like a large translucent blister. Inside you can see a soft shape stirring.

1. Empty a pistol clip into the organic mass.
2. Move slowly around the mass and get out of the pod.
3. Loot the escape pod's emergency supplies.
4. Slice open the organic mas with your Space Bowie Knife.
5. Something else?

I'm too lazy. Let them find me than me finding them

You switch on your locator beacon then loot the escape pod's emergency supply cache, being careful not to disturb the organic mass.

Inside you find:
5 Food Cubes
10 Bottles of distilled water
An Advanced Med Kit
A Repair Kit
A Space Bowie Knife (just like the one you already have.)
A box of matches
An old school hand powered radio
A Flare Gun with 4 red flares.
An Emergency Space Suit.

The emergency space suit seems to be a very basic model obviously put there in case the pod's occupants need to make an emergency space walk. The suit has an air filter, Class C radiation shielding and a 6 hour air supply.

After deciding which items to take with you, you're still faced with the problem of leaving the escape pod and dealing with the strange organic mass.


1. Empty a pistol clip into the organic mass.
2. Move slowly around the mass and get out of the pod.
3. Poke the mass.
4. Slice open the organic mass with your Space Bowie Knife.
5. Something else?

((Again sorry for the late reply. Dark Souls 2 has consumed my life.))

After what happened on the Rosken you can't take any chances. You empty a pistol clip into the organic mass. The mass sudders under the barrage then seems to "sigh" before deflating. Strange green goo leaks out of the bullet holes. Whatever was inside the mass is probably dead.

With that dealt with you stuff the contents of the Escape Pod's emergency supply cache into your inventory like the consummate RPG player you are then leave the pod.

[Say... have you seen all the stuff that's in our inventory? You'd think all those things combined would be incredibly bulky yet they only seem to appear when we decide to use them.]

In the distance you can see the ruins Dr. Averlyn was talking about. For some ominous reason they take the shape of a humanoid bust with the mouth gaping open as if screaming... or in anticipation of being fed something.

[That just looks wrong on so many levels...why do the ruins of some ancient alien civilization look like a human head? I really hope this isn't gonna be like in that holo-thriller where they find out that normal humans were engineered by bigger humans who went extinct because of mutant genitalia monsters.]
