First time there was an all of above choice

((Yay! Another Player. Well the numbered actions are just there for structure ad prompting. I kinda got lazy with that last one. You can always choose multiple actions if you think it's plausible that they can be performed at the same time.))

You chug some space cola then use the now empty bottle to collect a sample of the goo. Then you gather your things and head towards the ruins.

As you walk you try to contact Hanna over your comm link. Unfortunately you can't seem to establish a link. It's likely that she's already entered the ruins and the signal can't penetrate that far within.

Eventually you find yourself at the entrance of the ruins. Apparently the giant head is fixed to the roof of the main complex. The entrance is a large stair case that goes deep into the ground. You begin your descent and find yourself standing in a long hallway that seems to go on forever. The interior of the ruins aren't pitch black but the ambiance is still quite gloomy.

As you walk down the hallway you come across two passages branching off to either side.

1. Keep walking down the hallway.
2. Take the right passage.
3. Take the left passage.
4. Something else?

Let's shake things up.

Let Arfy decide which way to go.

"I'm stumped, Arfy. Which way do you think we should go?"

[If this ruin conforms to architectural preferences of most common sentient beings then this hallway will take us deeper into the ruin and probably closer to Hanna. We should go straight ahead.]

You continue walking down the hallway until you come to a large room. The room is circular with several discs of varying sizes embossed onto the floor. On the far side of the room is what appears to be some kind of computer console although it has no recognizable buttons, only a bunch of holes. In front of the console is a thick pole, about the length of your leg and thickness of your thigh.



1. Examine the discs.

1. Examine the discs.

"Oooohh. A puzzle entrance of some sort?"

There are about 5 discs set into the floor of the room; a single large disc surrounded by two medium size discs and two smaller ones.

You walk around and examine each disc in turn.

The large disc is about ten metres in diameter and is completely featureless and smooth.

The two medium discs are three metres in diameter have some alien writing on them. The translation files you picked up on the Rosken allow you to figure out the basic meanings. One disc says: Unoccupied, while another says: Life Signs Stable. Your EM sensor is picking up energy flowing into this one. Both discs have some kind of switch in their centers.

The two smaller discs are about a metre and a half in diameter. They also have writing on them. One says: empty the other says: Unit Ready. Both discs have switches similar their larger counterparts.


1. Press the switch on the disc that says: "Unoccupied".
2. Press the switch on the disc that says: "Life Signs Stable".
3. Press the switch on the disc that says: "Empty".
4. Press the switch on the disc that says: "Unit Ready".
5. PRESS ALL THE SWITCHES!
6. Examine the console.
7. Examine the pole.

7. Let's examine the pole first, okay?

Too dangerous to just be pushing every button I see

The pole is mounted on the floor in front computer console. It has blunt round tip and is made of a hard black obsidian substance... not unlike the suit David was wearing. Your EM sensor is detecting power lines going between the console and the pole.

[Is it just me or does this thing look really phallic?]


1. Press the switch on the disc that says: "Unoccupied".
2. Press the switch on the disc that says: "Life Signs Stable".
3. Press the switch on the disc that says: "Empty".

Five and then Six but instead of rubbing the pole rub my pole. Just kidding.


Option 7.

The console consists of a large screen above a series of holes. Like the pole the holes seem to be made from a smooth black obsidian substance. You shine your flash light down one of them and see that there's nothing inside.

There's definitely a way to interact with the console that you're not fully understanding but for the life of you, you can't seem to figure it out.

[I've got nothing. Out of all the species in the known universe I've seen any use an interface like this.]

1. Press one of the switches on the discs.
2. Stick your hand into one of the holes.
3. Rub the pole.
4. Go back down the hall way and return to one of the other rooms.
5. Something Else?

You walk back down the hallway. Once again you are faced with the two side passages. At this point you notice two signs that you previously missed on the way in. Your translator tags them as "library" and "equipment".

1. Search the library.
2. Search the equipment room.
3. Go back down the hall way and return to big room with the console.
4. Something Else?

I say go to the library first. Try to figure out what we can about this place we're in before we start looting/solving puzzles.

You enter the library which is full of shelves containing what appear to be books. You take a book off a shelf at random. Turns out that the "book" is actually some kind of tablet inscribed with alien markings. Your ARFS projects a loose translation onto your HUD.

The Tablet Reads:

The Caress of the Cosmos
Sy'reth X Reader

Transient being, you crave Sy'reth as does the Other. Come let me grant you the heightened awareness... you moan in ecstasy as [translation error]...
Sy'reth is pleased by your reciprocation...
...

As you read it the text seems to change with new words forming according to what you have read, almost as if the text were... scrolling. Apparently it seems to describe you achieving some kind of union with a creature known as Sy'reth.

[Well that was trippy...]

You place The Caress of the Cosmos back on the shelf and try another tablet. This one depicts a carving of some kind of humanoid alien wrestling with a writhing mass of tentacles. More worryingly the craving moves as if the tablet were liquid and solid at the same time. The whole thing makes your eyes hurt... and gives you a boner for some reason.

[You know I'm not even attracted to organics yet I find this strangely arousing.]

You place the tablet back on the shelf and try another one...

An hour passes, by now you've browsed 10 different tablets and they feature similar subject matter as the first two.

[As ridiculous as it sounds I think we're in a library full ancient alien slash fiction and tentacle porn.]

3. Go back down the hall way and return to big room with the console.

I'll be away for a while, OP. Won't be posting here for a few days.

You take one of the tablets then cross the hall way into the equipment room.

The equipment room seems to be full of smooth obsidian poles similar to the one in front of the console except these are not fixed to the floor but mounted on racks.

Aside from the poles there are also chains of black spheres and fat tubes with holes in them.

1. Grab a Pole.
2. Grab a chain.
3. Grab a tube.
4. Grab one of everything.
5. Leave this stuff alone... you have no idea what it does.

Then

1. Go back down the hall way and return to big room with the console.
2. Something Else?
