that this thread needs to get off bleach and back on topic and I'm not pushing my opinon on anyone just defending it. Also it's good logic there no where near the same.

Deciding a series suck after having seen only few episodes is retarded, not to mention you start rambling about how the good guys never lose? Ya, cuz everyone know that the first season ended with a complete victory for the good guys AMIRITE?!
Everyone who's actually watched the series knows you're just mumbling crap.

Also, no one cares about the defeats in Bleach since the good guys always live and win in the end (sound familiar?), a defeat in CG actually has some impact and consequences.

I looked it up on Wikipedia, and it's in episode 7 that Lelouch loses against Cornelia (though it's due mostly to his troops being assholes). If someone gave up on the series before episode 7, then either Code Geass wasn't their type of anime (maybe they don't like mecha?) or they knew they would hate CG before they even watched it.

We've been talking a lot about Lelouch in this thread, but what about Suzaku? He was in the series from the very beginning, and he's a great character. At least, he was in the beginning of the series. (We can argue about whether he got better or worse or whatever another time.) If a person didn't like Lelouch, there was Suzaku to enjoy. They were very different characters. I've never met a person who didn't like one of the two.

Lelouch also lost in episode 10 of R2. He tried to rescue Kallen from Xing-Ke, but got screwed over because Xing-Ke led him in the irrigation part of the land where Lelouch's troops were positioned. The BK knightmares were trapped in sinking ground while the rest of the Chinese knightmares went around for the Ikaguya. Lelouch tried to fight tactics with strategy and that made him lose.

If the good guys always won, then the show wouldn't be interesting anymore. For example, SEED Destiny turned to shit when everything became a one-sided kill frenzy for Kira and his buddies. Seeing Strike Freedom cripple a hundred mobile suits at once in a normal routine became dull and boring. The protagonists must experience defeat at some point in order for the story to progress and become good.

As for Code Geass, if you stop in the beginning or half way, you really have no opinion say if the series was good or not. Saying CG sucked while stopping half way makes your opinion half-assed. To come up with a true opinion of a series, you have to watch it through completely.

Ok why is my opinion null and void i watched like 13 episodes if one forth of the show sucked and i hear the seconed seaason was horrible. In your opinion if I missed one episode then I cant talk well then all your opinons of bleach are null because you missed sme of the episodes.

Lets face it if only people who watched the whole series got an opinion then no one would be against it. If I dont like a series then I stop watching it plane and simple. Oh and good animes dont have 1/4th of there episodes making babys to cry.

Well by your guys logic not seeing every episode then you dont get an opinion on the matter. So then bleach is a great anime i've seen every episode so I get an opionion.

I've seen every episode of Bleach (except the latest two episodes, because I'm busy watching other stuff, but I will get to them soon), and I'd say at least a fourth of the show sucks ass.

There are about 200 episodes of Bleach. The entire Bound arc sucked major ass, the Captain Amagai arc sucked ass, and there have been fillers thrown in the entire series that have been very bad. I'm pretty sure that's more than 50.

Yeah, they weren't in the beginning of the series, but they were really bad, and a lot of people either skipped the fillers or stopped watching the show completely. Does that mean that the entire series of Bleach sucks? No, it's still an alright show. You just have to remember that it is a shonen series that comes on during primetime.

With Code Geass, you have to remember that the series is fantasy mixed with a little bit of reality. Like The X-Files. A realistic world where crazy shit happens. Or is X-Files a piece of shit, too?

I really want to know what anime you guys are watching that allows you to say that Code Geass isn't one of the best anime series out there.

I'm not trying to bash any series, but 90% of anime is mediocre or crappy. Just like movies, most of them are average, with a few big stinkers and a few great series.

Examples:
A flawless series - Cowboy Bebop
A great series - Code Geass
An average series - Bleach
A below-average series - Rosario+Vampire
A shitty series - Musashi Gundoh (though it may be so bad that it's good)

If I only watched great anime series, I'd only watch maybe two series a year. But instead, I watch series that are average or a little better than average, sometimes a little below-average, because though they have some things that I dislike, for the most part, I enjoy the series. I take the good with the bad. That's why every bad part of Code Geass, I can overlook, because I'm used to looking at the whole picture and not just one little thing.

I can understand if a person thinks Code Geass sucks if every year, that person only watches the best anime that airs that year, and nothing else. Otherwise, it just doesn't make sense to me, because a lot of other series are far inferior to Code Geass. Unless, of course, you just like to see shit blow up and people get the shit beat out of them, and no dialogue or story.

Shaggy CGs story was boring done before and better. Had boring characters and the main character was just and asshole who couldnt even be called a hero at all.

Lelouch was an antihero. (If you don't know the term, look it up.) You're supposed to see him as the hero while also disagreeing with some of his methods and ideals.

The story of Code Geass has been done before? Where? I don't recall hearing about any story where an alienated son of a king gains a magical power and tries to topple his father, who controls the majority of the world. With giant robots.

I think the problem a lot of people have with this topic is that you're not saying true things. You say you dislike Code Geass because it's been done before, but it hasn't. You say it sucks because it's not realistic or believable, but it tries to be somewhat realistic while adding in a lot of sci-fi and fantasy, and it accomplishes that well. You say it's boring, but there is a lot of action in there, both physical and emotional/mental. Granted, it's not the kind of action like in Bleach, where people fight with swords, but CG should be admired for being different. That's what is really great about CG - it's not the typical series where the main character is a 100% good guy who always wins and is the strongest around. It's unclear whether Lelouch is really good or bad, he loses sometimes and has to rely on others in order to win, and physically, he's one of the weakest people around.

If you said, "I don't like Code Geass because I like stereotypical animes" or "I don't like Code Geass because I need constant fighting and blood," nobody would have said shit. Everybody would have just said okay, that's cool, you wouldn't like CG, and left it at that. But instead you keep giving bogus reasons for why it sucks, while people who have watched the series give valid reasons for why it's not the best series ever but is still enjoyable.

Basically everything that ShaggyJebus said, except for the part of Code Geass not being done before. Originality died a very long time ago, so arguing whether something is original or not is a moot point.

I agree with ZeroOBK, although nothing like Code Geass has been done before, there are many aspects of it that have. This is just a culmination of many different ideas and genres. Its the way they were put together and presented that made it original.

I happen to like Lelouch because he is an antihero. It made the series have depth. If he was like other main characters it would have drastically changed the quality of the series.


While I did have many problems with the series (aforementioned plot holes, people not being dead) and hated some parts, it was still great (or fairly good). As ShaggyJebus stated, others have already stated why, so I won't get into specifics.

I guess the only real problem I have for CG is that when it hit episode 19 for R2, everything became so fast paced. I mean they introduced Knight of 4 just to be killed in 5 seconds of her debut. I would have liked it better if it was slown down a bit. Other than that I liked it. Awesome how Lelouch tires to outwit his enemies.
