Here's something interesting: man arrested for threatening voice actress aya hirano

According to her twitter she's not retiring as much as she is having a brain tumor and needs to chill the fuck down for a while, both her singing career and VA career are "suspended" until further notice.

She has been getting a lot of hate lately.
So this doesn't really surprise me.

yeah, she is maybe worst voice actress because hated so much eh ? take example from misa of death note, and i say that is a worst anime voice that i have ever seen.

I think she is a quirky person. She seems like she couldn't handle all her fame. She was REALLY popular and I think she felt she had/has to try out things other than voice acting to continue her popularity despite knowing she doesn't have the talent to back it up.

I think this - obviously along with her health problems - is why she is scaling back. She isn't retiring though, she still is continuing her current roles.

I think as a seiyuu she is really good. She can do different voices and they are all iconic.

I'm inclined to think that her not doing surgery because it'd would ruin her career is the major factor. Don't see where all the hate is coming from in this thread, she is good.

The hate comes from Aya Hirano "herself", not her acting or voice. Like I said once again, "Aya Hirano = Britney Spears", Love the talent, hate the people.

Like most said here, I won't miss her.

I guess if she's fine again, then the whole thing will start from the beginning like ground hog day

Lol most people in here just seems to have a really bad experience with Aya Hirano.

As for myself i see that she has a great talent as Seiyuu and Singer and if someone seeing that they had a chance to grow bigger why they should not take it? It is just in this case while she is trying to expand her career, she fail hard to the point that all of her former fans turn on her.


So i hope that after her suspension is over and she goes back into VA, everyone would give her one more chance.(And isn't the one to blame more is her Agency which keep making stupid schedule and program for her? Rather than focussing on VA or singing?)

I don't know why some people hate her, it's not like she appearedon tv killing someone or sayin racist shit or something like that.I find her beautiful and I like how she can make a lot of great voices for the different charecters she plays, I think read she's only retiring from music, so I hope she gets new characters to play, and keeps doing a great job with the ones she has right now

Well, we can't force it - there's always the fan-hater ratio most VAs have to contend to.

She's a great seiyuu, and probably her VA career will be best remembered by the many plum roles she had. Love her or hate her, no one can deny her what she got, career-wise. Too bad her personal and health issues got the better of her. Here's hoping she can get back on track someday.

But its kind of her fault. She tried to alienate her otaku fanbase, remained complacent in some of her company/management issues, and went for something she really isn't. She released a statement a while back declaring that she was done with anime and making the move into TV/Drama, has made comments dissing her fanbase, and has a very self centered, although probably conscientious, media personality.

Do I hate her voice? No, I remember the sequins in my eyes when I saw Haruhi as it was debuting, the killer episode 0, the fact that the show stormed the community by surprise, I remember telling myself that Hirano had put herself on the map, after watching her do Konata from Lucky Star. But then 2-3 years of fiascos, stupid twitter remarks, failed albums, and cutesy but elitist remarks opened my eyes.

Endless 8 didnt help her cause either, though it wasn't her fault.

Whatever, As long as Rie Kugimiya is voicing Tsunedere lolis the world will keep on moving along. Nothing of value has been lost.

Such an ugly personality attached to such a great voice.
