Yes, yes Toomami being on TV is wonderful and all but, I cant help feeling put off by this. It proves that they can do it but just wont, its like they are teasing us, "Haha, april fools". As if to say it doesn't matter what you want, we can do this cause we can and we have the money. Go back to your kids shows and put Toonami and the like on a diffrent network, or atleast on its second channel, the one for anime.

Personally I hate Toonami mainly because when I first heard of it it was in america and it was showing all sorts of awesome anime and mature animations like Outlaw Star, Robot Chicken, Tenchi Muyo and all that so you can imagine my excitment as an english born Otaku when it was announced Toonami was coming to the UK.
I sat at home, I turned on the TV, I went to the channel 5 minutes beforehand to bring up the tension, the title sequence began "THIS IS TOONAMI!!!" and then first show came on...Dexters Laboratory :S then Powerpuff Girls then Cow and Chicken...They changed the line up for the british audience because they thought we only prefered CARTOONS!!!

I expect this to just be a slap in the face or its a sign that they will bring back the old and nothing else. Cartoon Networks stigma towards anime has left many of the companies with major anger issues towards them. Look at dbz kai, its on Nickoloden now when it originaly aired on CN. No one really wants anything, in the anime community, to do with CN.

i don't know what the hell you were watching but i sure as hell remember there being anime on toonami in england, i thuink it was in the middle maybe moving towards the end they started to show all teh really good dtuff i deffinately remember the showing blue subamrine no.6 (can't remember that name properly)

Toonami was my gateway to Anime. DBZ, Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, Big O, and others... classics.

Such a sad nostalgia looms over me every time I see clips from the old block. I remember the first time I saw Dragon Ball Z, a show that actually got continued thanks to Toonami. I remember Outlaw Star, and I know everyone remembers the infamous Cowboy Bebop.
Then Cartoon Network got their new block, Adult Swim, and ran Toonami into the ground as they lifted anime from there to AS, and altered Tom into some cartoonish piece of shit with a Thomas the Tank Engine face and horrible kid shows.
All of the in jokes for adults ("Now for a little of the old ultra violence")...
All of the inspirational mash-ups like the video Jacob posted...
I remember learning about anger and how to channel it properly, the difference between a man who utilizes his anger and a man enslaved by it, when Tom did a piece comparing Picolo and Vageta.
Fuck Cartoon Network. Fuck it to the grave. Fuck everyone in management for destroying one of the best blocks on television, one of the best hosts in televised history, and even replacing the shows they threw into Adult Swim with reruns of Family Guy and whatever shit they have on now.
Television is under a lot of strain because the new generations, both ours and kids today, spend far more time on the internet than watching TV. Whenever I see Toonami clips I feel happy about this. It sucks for the poor guys and gals stuck underneath management, but the suits are stuck with it, because I know that if Toonami was still around and bumping like it was when we were young, more people would be watching Cartoon Network.
Replace that cartoon reality show with some 90s-2000s anime, and you've got an audience.
Replace Tenchi with a mind numbing cartoon where the main character repeats a single word over and over for a FUCKING MINUTE AND A HALF in some idiotic attempt to be funny(?), and you've got shit ratings.
I miss Toonami. Thanks for this update, Jacob. If they ever did bring it back, I know the suits would be too pussy to take the chances they did when we were younger.

Even though they censored or cut a lot of stuff out of the anime they aired, I don't hate 'em for it. I looked forward to seeing what was on Toonami when I was a kid.
At least they have Adult Swim now, but still. Cartoon Network definitely isn't the same now.

Dude, they should totally bring back Toonami! Perhaps they could start introducing animes like Au no Exorcist and Needless, maybe even Afro Samurai.(I guess for Needless and Afro Samurai in particular they'd have to put it in the Adult Swim portion. Mainly due to Needless' high fanservice and Afro Samurai's extreme blood, cursing, and sexual content)
