Monster.While it ranks as one of the highest rated animes in most sites, it is also highly underrated among the best animes.
Every thriller-lover ans story-lovers should definitely watch it.

Kareshi Kanojou no Jijou - It's supposed to be more or less famous, or at least the manga is, but I've yet to meet more than one or two people who even heard of it. I guess the anime didn't become as big since it never really finishes. From what I understand they caught up to the manga and stalled for time then just never resumed it. For those who like HS-Drama series you should totally look this up, also worth mentioning that it's one of the creator of Evangelion's earlier worksI love karekano :> It was one of the first animes I saw and I've watched it many times. And I think that I need to watch it again pretty soon, now that I remembered it again.

PARANOIA AGENT. +1 for that. Paranoia Agent is without a doubt one of the greatest Satoshi Kon masterpieces that deserves so much more attention.
Other than that I'd say Scrapped Princess simply because it got so emotional and had a brilliant ending. And as far as I know it never got the recognition it deserved as it was one of the more serious animes without too over-the-top characters.
