[General] Underrated Anime

while it is getting attention in america as a manga. it doesn't mean its getting enough attention. if it had gotten enough attention in japan then they would be making a second season or trying to catch up with the manga. also we are talking about anime not manga!

Sigh. Their not making a second season.

You know why? Because the awesomeness of Berserk needs to be redone from the shitty first season series that doesn't give credit to how good the manga is.
The OVA is gunna cover everything.

And please don't give shit that it isn't getting enough attention. Fans and readers of the series complained about the series hiatus when Miura just stopped dead for his Idol M@aster addiction back in '08. There were still advertisements and cosplayers world wide for Berserk. Not as much as it should be, but hell it's better than other series that's not as famous, or even mainstream, as Berserk.
Hell like futa said, there would be no superior remake if it wasn't getting attention. The production is even getting backed by Gackt, a known j-rock star.

Also, if you do care any, anime has a trend. Moe~ and imouto, 'nuff said.

It's to me one of the best examples of a well executed slice-of-life anime that seems to be the most recent trends of anime nowadays. Full of meaningful anecdotes and one of the best coming-of-age stories i've seen. Also nice not to see a cast full of teenagers for once all college students.

just to name some more...Scrapped Princess, Baccano! and Seto no Hanoyome as well.

Hyouge Mono
Souten Kouro
Tytania(I don't know if this is underated but i heard not so many person love this series.)
Bokurano(The anime has flaws compare to the manga but still i love the series.)

Mushishi? Outlaw Star? Just a few to name.

Really, REALLY good show. I was surprised it wasn't viewed/talked about more.

I would say Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler) didn't get even 1/3 of the credit It deserved. In my eyes the story and animation was a masterpiece, but I am still yet to meet anyone who knows what it is.

Golden Boy. It was one of the best shows ever and it ended too soon. I want more epic journeys of Kintaro OE. I've been reading "Golden Boy 2" recently and it's great.

Sorry to spoil your perfect record, but have seen the first series (wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but quite good) and am about to start the second season.

For my nominees, Asura Cryin and Read or Die (particularly the OVAs) come to mind.

I loved Kuroshitsuji.

Claymore was good. I didn't finish it though so I can't really say. Kuroshitsuji, Madoka, Deadman Wonderland, Air, Dot hack? I'm not really sure how popular the anime I watch is. All I care about is how good it is and if there's a lot of fillers.

You should definitely read the manga, a lot better in my opinion (though the anime is still great). The anime only follows up to volume 11 of the manga, and has an alternate ending (the manga hasn't ended yet).

Excel Saga. Watch the DVD version with the subtitles.

Hmm... I'll try to finish it. The sad thing is, the only reason I started watching was because my friends told me that there was a character in the anime with my real name. xD I had no idea that there was an alternate ending though. =D

I have a really bad habit f completely avoiding any well known or semi successful animes. So, most of the animes I watch are really obscure. Some of the better ones are Sora No Woto and Maria-Holic.

Natsu no Arashi is a really good, but underrated anime and manga.

This is one of my favorite animes but, I don't know if enough people would get the "japanesey" jokes in it for me to recommend it to others. Still love it though.

Also going to add Kaiji to the list. Not sure if it is underrated or not, but I don't see a lot of people talking about it. It is one of the most "addicting" shows I've ever seen though.

My Favorite underrated anime is a called "Ojiisan no Ranpu" (Grandfather's Lamp) it is about a young man who makes a career as a lamp seller in the Meiji Era during Japan's push for rapid Westernization. Its a short movie, but I somehow can't find it online anymore...sad it was really great too. The info is still on anime news network http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=12511. I wonder if you can buy it online? Oh well...:(


finally found a trailer on youtube, I guess its one of four short movies put together in an anime called Project A. I havent watched the other three, all I know is that Ojiisan no Ranpu is awesome. In the trailer its the second one, 0:19-0:35.
