[General] Underrated Anime

Silent Mobius was great. I loved the cyberpunk meets supernatural setting and the characters. The only real complaint I have is that the English dub was pretty sub par (especially with the male voice talent which was absolutely horrible sometimes - the female voice talent was better, but still below average). The Japanese dub was a little worse in my opinion in that it was just boring - I'll take bad and funny over boring any day. Bit if you can get past that, there's a great story in there.

Shit, someone else knows Mnemosyne? Awesome. Also, I agree with Lain, Golden Boy, and add Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi and Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (more so the manga though).

You mean Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne? I loved that one! Really fucked up and unpleasant sex scenes, though. It's probably one of my favorite animes. It combines complete trash exploitation and genuine high quality story and animation better than anything else I've seen.

Also, Lain and Golden Boy are great as well.

Yeah, Rin. Though, I don't really recall multiple sex scenes, just a lot of boobs. Also, I feel so weird for saying it, but one of my favorite scenes was the one in the first ep with all the piercings lol.

Anyway, yes there were a pair of sex scenes in the show, though one was pure squick, courtesy of f*cking Apos. <.<

The piercing scene was certainly memorable... It was the first time watching the show that I shouted out "WHAT IN THE UNGODLY FUCKING HELL!?!" The first of many, in fact. My favorite scene was the 'flying fuck fight' from episode 2.

At first, I felt a bit insulted by the show constantly showing me boobs, as if that's all that was required to get my attention. I hate that. But after a little while, I just rolled with it. The shameless sleaze was part of the show's charm.

I'm actually convinced that it was originally conceived as a hentai.

In terms of manga, one that I think is amazing that I have literally never seen mentioned anywhere is Ãœbel Blatt. Very dark, deep, medieval-fantasy manga.

There's plenty of high rated shows that don't get the respect they deserve from people now a days like Mushishi and Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

But I guess that's not the point.

I think I will go with Trapeze. The anime did so much stuff with the animation and style, and had a interesting premise. You watch other series that did the same stuff with animation and have to laugh at the fans that never saw Trapeze and try to pass off the animation as "original".


If you want to go with manga, Aiki.

Seriously, it starts off a bit slow and makes you wonder if you're reading hentai almost, but it's so enjoyable and hilarious at so many times.

Mushishi and Aria.

Beautiful and meaningful anime, yet seems like noone I know even know about it.

Sora No Woto, I really enjoyed it, and it has an amazing soundtrack.

Necrobumping this, but I re-reading the whole thread I noticed that no one mentioned Gilgamesh. I still have to finish it, but I can guess it's pretty underrated - and needs more love.
