I suppose the answer to this question would depend on the individual who is speaking/answering. Ah, of course it would depend on that. After all, it's the type of question that'll receive an opinionated answer rather than a completely factual one (or at least I'd think so).
In my opinion, subbed anime is much better, though dubbed is good if you're just starting to watch anime or read slowly. I started off watching dubbed anime (which is obvious I suppose). Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, G Gundam and so on were the first of anime series that I watched. Since they were airing in the United States, on Toonami, they were dubbed. That made things convenient since I spoke English and could understand the shows easily.
And with time I discovered anime series such as Samurai Champloo and Naruto. The English versions were pretty neat and I liked them. The same goes for Yu Yu Hakusho. However, I later found the Japanese versions.. which sounded much better in my opinion. That's mainly because of the difference in how the English language and Japanese language sound and because I know that the Japanese voices are more accurate. They're the voices that the characters are meant to have, seeing how they're made in Japan.
So yeah, overall, I like subbed (or undubbed) anime better because you get the original voices, I liked the Japanese language (sounds) better and the anime series aren't hard to keep up with, as long as you can read english or whatever subtitles are provided.
But subbed or not, there's not too big a deal. There you have it, my perhaps.. unnecessarily long response.
