Why do people hate on dubs so much?

i dont like subs that much because at one point all the characters sound the same and i dont know whos talking. also i gotta read, keep in mind whos voice goes with who then when a character screams off screen i keep thinking its anew character. then theres digesting the story form the subs they give cuz some subs are just bad english. over all its a hassle.

in dubs i feel more invited. granted there are bad dubs but when you think about it theres gotta be bad japanese vocals dubs(?). but i dont have a strong grappling on japanese so i cant determine if there good or bad. but when you're following dubs your more following your favorite voice actor.

Hmmm it's not that I hate dubs....it's just that 90% of the anime i watch is subbed so whenever I watch the same anime, only dubbed, it sounds strange to me. That said though, there are some animes which have been dubbed beautifully, can't name any off the top of my head lol, but I know there are some out there.

I do not like dubs because it sounds like shit(sorry for the bad word). It is very rarely to see a good dub, the only good I have found is Black Lagoon. Dubbing is never good, I come from Sweden and we do not dub (thank god)if it's not Pokémon or Digimon or the likes (and they are not good in Swedish I can tell you)

I dont hate dubs, but as said the reason people do is how poor most of them are.
There are some exceptions but a lot of dubs are second rate and the personalities and emotions just dont convey as well. One example is Genshiken, I actually liked some of the dub, but at points the lines sounded disattached from what was happening, unemotional and like the voice actors were speaking to themselves rather than characters having a conversation.

Then you have other dubs which completely change whats being said, and the list goes on, dubs dont always leave a lot to like.

Because most of them are just fucking pieces of shit don't live up to the original japanese dub.

Subs get in the way.
I'm trying to watch anime, not read it, dammit.

I see a great many vague or subjective comments on why dubs 'suck', but very little in the way of concrete examples. These same folks seem to be the ones most likely to attack dubs and those who voice any preference for them. Personally I prefer them, of course being older my eyes are no longer what they once where - I find a lot of subs to be poorly done from a design stand-point (they often ignore good design basics making them hard to read). I have found poorly done, poorly translated subs which change or add to the original. Basically there are good subs and bad ones, the same goes for dubs and even live action TV or movies - all performance are NOT equal.

What I have never understood is why one fan would turn on, or belittle, another because of a personal choice in how they enjoy the product. I do get a kick out of the guys who spout how dubs suck and then give a list of the ones they watched or enjoyed.

I think it is frequently a matter of perceived 'honor' - it is cool not to like dubs so they don't. The same people are frequently the same who hate any series or movie that is popular. Go figure.

I hate dubs because something always gets lost in translation. Always. Plus, most dubs suck (have poor voice acting, adds random stuff, badly timed, etc.), as explained earlier by many other people. Some subs suck wrt translation, formatting, and timing too, but I find that there is less suckage in subs compared to dubs.

But I can understand Japanese anyway, so I prefer just watching raws, honestly.

It's because we got so used in subs to much. So when we hear the dubs, it doesn't feel right. Though I am saying I am a hater of dubs too. I watch several series on its dubs, i.e. Baccano!
