[Locked] Debate on Moving and Merging of Threads (Former Title: Paul)

This whole thing was sorted out a year ago the first time the thread was moved to CTFG. then it was decided by Gambler and Tsujoi that it should remain in the music section.

the fact that this has only become an issue in the last few days makes me think it's one user troll reporting the thread just to stir shit up. i would like to know how many reports there were, and by how many different users. not their names, just how many.

I would be fine with the move if paul just stated his reasoning behind the move and his opinion in a coherent argument. If it has valid points then i'm sure this would've not been an issue.

It would also help if you stated what the complaints initially were. This isn't a democracy, you're right about that but that doesn't mean you can't expect to just do things without stating justification and not receive backlash from an open public forum where everyone has the right to say what they want.

Right now like it or not, you're basically pulling an EA. While we have no power on what developers/mods can do in their game/website, we are the people in the first place that make you relevant. Majority doesn't have the power to force you into anything, but it's a good guideline to follow through.

No, because you believe that an issue is solved when one person no longer views it as an issue. You created the issue, although to yourself you solved it. That is why you are blinded or jaded, whichever you like to use.

The only reason you said why is because you believe it belongs there. Which, in my view isn't a good enough reason. Just as my opinion to put it back isn't good enough to you.

Going to have to say, "What are you listening to now" and "rate the above song" are completely different. The former allows discussion, the latter is just a stupid game. Warrants different threads in different sections. As a former admin I believe my opinion matters.

EDIT: Also, if gambler and tsujoi both thought it was fit for music, why not leave it there.

One person no longer saw it as an issue, the only person that matters in this case, I'm sorry I'm not taking your feelings into consideration but that's not my job, my job is to moderate based on what I believe. The issue is why you think your decisions hold authority over other global mods like gambler and tsujoi who have been global mods for a much longer period of time.

There is no argument against one who out of the gate declares "This is my opinion on the issue." Might want to stop doing that, it's not good as a moderator.

I don't, if tsujoi moved a thread I decided not to move previously I would treat it the same way. I wasn't informed when I was turned into a global of every single decision gamlber or tsujoi have made in the past so I'm acting based on what I think about the thread, it's literally the only that I have to go on and it's how most of us do our job. We don't come to a consensus every time we move a thread.

I told you threads about rating things are forum games and go in the chat section, and that both threads gave post count. I never believe users are just going to agree with my opinions, I simply don't care whether they do or don't. What made you think I should?

@hobo: That's not my reasoning, that's simply where we stand now, I am willing to hear your reasoning and what you want but if you can't convince me what do you suggest I do, should I simply conform to what the users believe even if I dont agree with it based on popular demand? That whole part about me not having to justify my actions applies here, you asked me why I did it and I don't mind telling you but I really dont care if you think I'm wrong. If you can make me believe I am then perhaps it wont happen again but I don't believe it's likely.

Sir, if I may, being a moderator means you should be able to justify EVERY ACTION you take.
Imagine if the President of the U.S. just decided to launch some nukes. Would we want to know why? Absolutely.
The same goes for anything you use your mod powers for. You may think you shouldn't need to justify it to plebeians like ourselves, but in the end, you should always be able to do such, otherwise you are turning into an abusive moderator.

Also:
Your opinion is never an argument and never has been. Because you are conveniently in your position, you get to reign over the trial between 2 users disagreements. They should both put up arguments, and you should objectively declare a winner. Moderating is exactly that. Your opinion does not matter one bit when truly moderating something, the only thing that matters are the rules (of Fakku! in this case) and the user's opinions. The status quo should remain, and the burden of proof lies in the affirmation (the one asking to have the thread removed).

Maybe if we asked nicely.

I'm not a judge, I'm not here to mediate. I look at something someone showed me and react based on my interpretation of the rules, that is my job. Kouki: I would be willing to reconsider the other thread, "what are you listening to now" is a gray area thread in my opinion so moving it was something I'm less concerned about but the rating thread is closer to a game than anything and it cant be moved, sorry.

So what happens if we get another global mod to move it? And you didn't know then, but now you know now is the issue. Sure you guys don't consult everything and i don't expect that, yet when conflict of issues and opinions between global mods arise, shouldn't it be natural to consult them first before you make your move?

Before Gambler moved my thread from CTFG back into music this is what he did, consult tsujoi to which he agreed. I don't see why you can't do the same practice.

And if you didn't care about opinions then why're you here trying to defend yourself from such opinions of users? You don't care about opinions on the matters concerning your moderating decisions, but you obviously care about the opinions the community has on you as a moderator and a person. If you don't justify yourself it's only natural things like this are going to occur.
