Wow, are you serious, do you think just posting a link to a "study" suddenly makes you winner? pathetic.

You can't just slap that to everything without context. That study only did research on physical sales with their digital sales on well established Music and movie companies. Fakku subs only has digital and it's just a start up Adult company, and can't be compared to companies such as the ones reported on the study.

I do agree with you on this, the thousands I've spent on music show this quite well, as does my collection of Fakku books and my subscription here.



However, if you read Jacob's post, you should know why this had to be done. The only way for Fakku to move on as a legitimate publisher that Japanese partners would want to do business with was to remove the illegal content. Opinions on the price aside, it is currently at a point where it allows for Fakku to pay the translators and other staff, the artists, the payment processor's fees, taxes, and so on. You did mention Netflix lowering prices - this is something Fakku might be able to do in the future as well, but like with your example, this can only happen if there are enough customers to still keep the business afloat even with the lower price.

After giving the service a trial run (as I count myself in the group of people that would not judge a certain product or service without trying it first) I will have to say that it feels a tad bit underwhelming. And I hope the feedback I will put here would help the staff with decisions in the future. Take note that I will not discuss the price of subscription as I believe it has been talked about for way too much though I cannot particularly judge it as I'm not really a fan of subscribing to porn.

1. I felt disappointed that I am not allowed to download the books I am entitled to read while subscribed. I know this is to combat piracy but it's just my knee jerk reaction. I felt disappointed but I understand the reason behind it.

2. I feel that some tags I'm looking for are missing. Because of this, it felt harder to look for what I want.

3. Because everything in here is original, meaning no parodies, as someone who doesn't "use" these works, it was very hard to feel a bond with the characters. That warm and cuddly feeling I get when Shana and Yuji kisses in a well drawn parody (I'm still not going to call them doujin just because) just cannot be replicated by a flat chested girl getting paid by a guy to have sex with her. You see the first time I got into the world of anime I've always been attracted on "what ifs". What if Recca and Kaoru Koganei hooked up? What if Kurapica turned into a girl? What if Souji Seta, oh wait sorry it's Yuu Narukami now, had a shadow and kidnapped Naoto? Every time I see a nicely drawn parody done by a great artist, it gives me a sense of delight that original works just cannot give.

4. The amount of "FAKKU BOOKS" you have to buy to read are enormous. Now, before its defenders rally against me about this let me explain, I only believe that they should be in a different category by default to the books set for reading for subscribers. Because, in my experience, half a page in an index are FAKKU books that I am not allowed to read unless I pay an additional fee, so I have to look at more pages just to find those that I am entitled to read. This does not feel very efficient at all and I'm not even talking about the price of the books yet (as I promised not to).

I mean, come on guys what the fuck?


5. Okay, without including the price or that "there are other free sites", I believe I have already listed the things I believe to be currently underwhelming with the service. From here on out there will only be positives. First and foremost, indeed it's a fresh feeling to see everything in full view, uncensored. It does greatly differ and far superior from huge black or white marks or even mosaics.

6. The quality, for some, are indeed amazing. The artists do know how to draw a perfect female body and I've lost count of times when I thought "this work should be turned into an anime".

7. I may have sounded like I'm talking trash about originals above, but I do find some enjoyment with original works too. There are times when an artist makes an original work and makes a series out of it; and when the first chapter is a hit, there's no escaping it... unless it suddenly becomes Legend of Maian, if it does, fuck you!

Overall, currently I'm not all too satisfied but what the hell, everyone has room for growth. Again, these are my feelings based on my experience. I stress on "my experience" as I hope not to read anything about how wrong I was about something when I'm clearly only stating how I felt and think about it based on using the service.

That would require actual effort...so they'll never do it.

I still think there's a problem with the payment, and it is something that must be done - for me, 13$/m is still too much, even after considering all the factors that include Fakku being a porn site, the costs maintaining comics etc. Someone here, I don't have the energy to search who, sorry, offered a piece of info, that Netflix, which was and is constantly compared here had a greater variety of content in its infancy, so maybe let's work on that. This site needs more quantity, because, compared to the free sites, it will lose due to the lack of content. Today, 10 days after it was posted, the site still suffers from a lack of doujins, so maybe it would be easier to switch to a 1-month pack sub, or try to switch it around, because the demand to pay that much for so little is unnerving to me, sorry.

Also, one thing this site needs is previews. Let's say that I would be able to pay (because I am unable to both afford it and make it due to Credit Cards being what they are in my country) - however, with the lack of previews I am essentially spending my money blindly. Of course, I can be assured of the quality, due to Fakku's reputation, but I do not know what I am buying, what I am paying for. I could, of course, check the title on another site, but, being the greedy and stingy bastard I am, I would for 90% stay there and read it for free.

I think workaround methods are needed for this site to function effectiely while the library is being rebuild - it isn't sustainable to demand so much for so little, sorry.

Greater variety can only come with time and with more partners on board, the latter especially having been one of the reasons the illegal content had to be removed. With more magazines published, not only will there be more different content, but also more new content per day, for obvious reasons.



Previews, or a rotation of free content, has been one of the things Jacob has mentioned repeatedly before as a plan for this year, now that Fakku is getting to a point where it has enough content to make this possible.

1. There are currently talks about offering single magazine purchases that will allow downloads. I don't think the the current subscription model will get downloads though.

2. Do you mean tags that don't exist or the current tags don't convey what's in the chapter well enough?

4. I believe they are? The magazines chapters are found in the "Magazines" tab and the book chapters are found in the "Books" tab. Am I misunderstanding or is the separation untrue?

Sorry I wasn't very clear, and I edited the post showing a picture of it. If you notice the picture, I chose the tag pettanko and it wasn't separated at all. This made searching for something available for me rather interestingly difficult.

Ok but comparing FAKKU to Netflix and Crunchy is kind of a bad move. FAKKU has payment limitations due to its product, and it should rather be compared to a porn site subscription if you want to have a pertinent comparison.

Ah, I see what you mean now. I'll bring up searching to include/exclude subscription/book chapters to Jacob. Although, I'm sure he'll of read this post already.

It's not about lolis, shotas and of similar taboo but I understand why you viewed what I meant that way. It's just that I've been used to using tags to narrow down to what I really want like for example: female:"females only" which differs from yuri because a work can have yuri in it but still have a guy. I also haven't found any "saimin" tag but, really these are things that can be fixed once you get in more content (as the yuri tag leads to a rather barren space) so I won't worry about it too much.

That is a bit sad, because it would either mean paying twice, or dropping the subscription in favor of downloads. It would be quite nice if we could get this similarly to how physical books get a free digital edition as well, but if this really will be deemed out of question, maybe then a reduced price of downloads for the subscribers that would keep their total spent money on the same level as with downloads alone, or slightly lower to encourage people to subscribe more? The latter could also be turned into another slightly more expensive tier of subscriptions with downloads enabled, although I can see how this could be a tricky decision with an ever growing library due to unlimited access for paying just one month. Maybe allowing downloads as a perk for long-time subscribers, then?

Weird. Should work since i know other's use theirs. Might be the bank.
