hmmm... V_V well I guess I shouldn't beat around the bush. I should state my writing troubles here. I lack a lot in the main character department, mainly because I base them on myself, which is a quiet and somewhat mopey
This isn't a really big issue but I lack in depth. Any suggestions to remedy this?
[font=verdana][color=green]The best thing to do would to probably look a lot more into your own life, and see what people you have in your life. That would instantly give you more depth already, as you are bound to know a wide variety of people.
Then, I would suggest reading some -good- books. Not manga or things like that, but books that show serious character development, and how the writer subtly changes the character over time.
Also, do NOT put your character into a standard trope. I've read many stories on here, and many of them are just absolutely telegraphable about what will happen next and why. With predictable characters, the story becomes predictable.
The characters need to be real. That is the most important thing. They are real people with real emotions. That is how depth is achieved, making the characters appear real. You want the reader to want to associate and empathise with the character. A famous example would be Raskolnikov, of Crime and Punishment. Depending on whether you agree with his viewpoint or not, you either love or hate him.
