I don't quite get any allowances, just got some money this Eid, and used half of it to buy myself a new and expensive headset. Lol.
I'm saving up the rest in case I really want to buy something in the future. And well... I usually end up saving for internet cafes when I don't get to use an internet connection at home.
It is all right to indulge every now and then; just remember not to overspend. Saving is a good habit. At times, others may call you miserly or stingy, but I rather have savings for a rainy day instead of debts adding to my burden.

I'm actually a student whose funding for university comes entirely from my parents. I get $10,000 put into my account that pays for everything (fees, rent, food, etc) and when I run out I ask for more. Of course, we're not a loaded family and it's a lot of trust they put in my direction for giving such freedom to me.
As for how I take care of the money, I pretty much pay the fee for Uni first hand (usually a few thousand dollars per semester) and then I only pay for the rent, utilities and living essentials. As for luxuries such as games, tech gadgets, stuff like that, I refrain from buying them as much as I can so the $10,000 can last as long as possible before I go back to my parents asking for more. I only buy things outside of living necessities when I feel there is an absolute need to buy them.
Tertiary education is extremely expensive these days. After speaking with you on more than a few occasions, I firmly believe you are a person who can definitely control his expenses.
Sometimes, having some extra income through developing applications or other legal means can come in quite handy. :)

I'm actually a student whose funding for university comes entirely from scholarship. When I got the offer, the first thing my parents said to me was "We ain't gonna dish out any money for this. You deal with it somehow." Luckily I got a scholarship so yeah. =3
As for how I spend it... 45% - 55% of it goes to fees, of course. Then for the rest, I wing em for living expenses books etc. There's no fixed way to spend it, I just spend it when I feel like it. In the "Oh shit-" case of me spending it all when there are still weeks to go, I just do some odd job or whatever to gain some money lol.
Also, speaking of money... Kinokuniya is a dangerous place. XDD
I get the feeling you are going to earn a high salary in future. Please do not forget me when the time comes. :D
Aside from the salary, part-time jobs may provide some form of experience, possibly useful in the future.
Based on what I have heard, some shoppers like Kinokuniya, while others have the mentality that the goods sold are somewhat expensive. It all depends on the individual and what you are purchasing. Lol!

I don't earn much so my money goes mostly on just essentials really.
I don't buy games often, more music actually.
Currently saving up for a trip next year though.
What form of music do you purchase? Instruments or scores? I am not well-versed in music, but am I wrong to say it can be an expensive activity at times?

Wherein?
OT: I get $30 from my parents on a weekly basis, and I set aside $20 to save each week. I'm currently saving for AFA.
I have a biscuit tin box which writes:
$50
$200
$500
$1000
$1500
$2000
Each time the amount in the box surpasses the amount written, I would cancel off that aforesaid amount.
I currently have $250, too little for AFA and it's nearing.... uuuu.
Actually, I am very impressed. Your weekly allowance is $30 and you managed to save 2/3 of it every week. Perhaps your perserverance will pay off... I am sure of it. :)

As for me, I allot the salary I receive according to my expected expenses, pocket money, and savings.
I always calculate my expenses ahead of time such as transportation and food for everyday living. And since I'm still living with my parents, I set aside an amount for my contribution to our house expenses, that concludes my expected expenses. My pocket money is for my personal pleasures and is always in a fix amount. I usually spend it only when pay day is near, just to reward or spoil myself a little. The remainder of my pocket money goes to my savings after pay day. Savings is by definition my savings and it depends upon the remainder from my expected expenses.
Though SOMETIMES when I lost track, I no longer follow my monetary allotment for that month.
We all deserve to spoil ourselves a little, especially after a month of hard work.
Like yourself, I sometimes eat into my savings for the month, but I try my very best to minimize these extra expenditure, rather than not following the allotment. ^_^;;
