Yes, that is as long as the concept doesn't kill the idea for a bomb being a bomb like it's supposed to be. It's not bomb enough if what it can do best is to clear small area around you within 1 second. It's okay for one installment being harder than the others, but ridiculously hard is one different story.
I suppose Bomb system in SA is meant to be the improvement of MoF's. If you haven't tried MoF, you could just spam bombs to win the game (surely it does reduce your power, but there is no need to care much unless you're in Kanako's final spellcard), it's broken in so many levels. That being said, the overall system in MoF and SA were criticized, for a good reason that is.

Is TD the first game to have a feature like trance? I know SA doesn't have it but bombs like that would be offset with a trance. Do you have bombs in unlimited quantities in SA? There isn't a counter for how many you have.
Haven't tried MoF yet but that just sounds kind of pointless. From the wiki it has the same look of SA. I really really hope it is not as simple as you make it sound though.

The lesser your power is, the worse your bomb's effectiveness. Remember what I said before about something "surely it does reduce your power" ? That concept is also applied in SA. Hence SA being the 'improved' version of MoF.

Yes, Ten Desires is the first to have it. There's no separate bomb counter in SA because it was tied with your power gauge. You can use the bomb when you have more than 1.0 in power level, and using a bomb will decrease the power by 1.0.
MoF and SA is kind of identical in gameplay except... MoF didn't have a grazing system which is sucks IMO. Touhou without grazing just feels so wrong, like having a plain fries without a dip, ketchup, or chili sauce.

My favorite pair would have to be Cirno and Daiyousei. ^^
I rather like this pair, as they get into quite a bit of mischief together, but Daiyousei is always there to cheer up Cirno when things don't go as planned.
