As one of the better (self-proclaimed) characters, Seiga is quite underrated. I hope she can earn more support from my favorite pixiv artists in the near future.

Don't you think it's hard to use Marisa's Master Spark ? Sure it's devastating and it covers a large area, but Marisa's mobility during the execution is trimmed, as if she got poisoned by Medicine in PoFV. With such penalty, it's hard to follow boss' movement and farm scores. On the other hand, her focused shot is my main favorite. Precision is always welcomed in any game that involves shooting.

Ah, I just played with Marisa. No 1cc. Only until Taoist of the Land of the Rising Sun. Need to train more.

I said something about artist. My statement was leaning more into her entry in danbooru, with the lack of many good pictures. Not saying that all of her pictures are bad, it's just that I always think of Seiga as a charismatic, ambitious, impulsive, yet wicked hermit. I have my own definition of a 'good' Seiga's picture and also criteria of how her expression should be .

First time I'm poking my head in here, so I'll just go with the default introduction listed in the first post.

Most of my first Touhou experiences were with doujin and the flash music videos and the like, but for some reason I shied away from the danmaku shooters at first. When I saw a fighting game had been released (Immaterial And Missing Power), I finally decided to jump right into some games.

Favorite character? Most likely Suika, with other DFC/loli characters following closely behind. :3

Yes. For the purpose of "goody hunting" (grabbing life and bomb pieces) its terrible. It would be great if pressing X would start the bomb then pressing X again would stop it. Her focused shot is noisy with headphones on.

Speaking of Marisa, her and Youmu's speed against Futo's non-spellcard arrows in stage 5 is really great. It means stage 5 becomes a no-hit stage for me. Just curious though, against those arrows, is the only way through them to go through that long gap?

After writing that I tried it for myself.
The easier way is going straight though shown here.

What I normally do is to go through the longer curved path. Marisa and Youmu are fast enough to do it, Reimu (and Sanae?) are not so I always lost a life there. I feel like an idiot for doing it the hard way this whole time.

Seiga,your non-spellcard bullets have a habit of taking lives from me.

Aren't they all drawn fairly flat in the games? Only Byakuren and Yuyuko come to mind as being made with a notable chest. Welcome to the club fellow DFC fan.

This week I got someone with no experience to play Touhou. He saw me deciding which game to play out of TD, UFO, MoF, SA and IN. He thought UFO had a funny title so he wanted to play it (on easy). He cleared stage 1 after using all of his bombs and having less than one life left. What was really interesting was his fingers on the arrow keys. All of his fingers rested on other keys so it made his reactions fairly slow. He used Reimu-A and didn't want to continue onward. He said the game was "not too hard". I told him there were six stages that get harder and showed him a replay of Byakuren. I think he took back the "not too hard" after that.

Man, you guys are able to get to Stage 6 without using a continue? I still have yet to get past Seiga without using a continue... Yoshika is a pain.

Yes. Excluding Futo's first non-spellcard, it's very possible for Reimu and Sanae to pass through the line of arrows. Well, actually, it's possible for the first non-spellcard as well, but it's way riskier due to the narrow positioning. If you want to, you can also use the speedsters (Youmoe and Mariza) to pass through the line of arrows like a sparta. It's way faster, precise, and less hassle. But it's again up to your decision. Which strategy do you consider is better for your gamestyle ? That's for you to answer and utilize.

Fun fact is, I never see or check Futo's non spellcard phase anymore since I always use bombs during those times, that is ever since my strategy gets altered into scoring-to-win.



Favorites as in what ? For being easy or beautiful ?
For being easy and beautiful, my favorite goes to Oomonoimi's Dinner. It provides a symbol-shaped danmaku with a parade of charms aiming for you. It could have been more crowded to add more beautiful points, but that would kill me for sure. Oomonoimi's Dinner is also one of a very few spellcards that are friendly to Marisa's master spark. Usually during that time, I spam either bombs or TRANCE to farm score.

For the least favorites, of course Yoshika's "Heal by Desires" and "Saved Up Desire Spirit Invitation". Seriously, she is not really hard as 3rd stage boss since I consider Yuugi and Ichirin are way more challenging than her, but Yoshika is way superior in term of being annoying.



Cut some slack for the poor guy. UFO is one horror game to show people with no experience in Touhou.
