Why do I hate NTR? Because I've been in relationships before. Been cheated on once out of all the relationships. Lost a woman I was in love with not because someone NTRed me, but because of other (financial/economic) reasons.
Pretty much coming across any NTR brings back the emotional pain of losing someone you were in a relationship with and remembering just exactly how rotten it felt. It's a PTSD thing of sorts. I generally don't feel motivated to use NTR material. I'll sometimes read it if it's well written for the same reason a person reads tragic romance novels. Regardless, it isn't usually a great time. I was once cheated by someone I had been with for six years. FeelsBadMan.
I also tend not to be too crazy about vanilla works either because they often come across as generic and too saccharine for my tastes.
My preference is for... female characters in, ahem, a more dominant role generally, so I'm probably too beta to really "get" the NTR mindset. Even so, I definitely advocate support for the NTR community and no one should hate on someone else for their personal sexual fantasies. That's the real benefit of porn in the first place.

But seriously, it all boils down to what each of us individually likes right? Some Netorare titles are pure gold for me but a few just leave me going "no, just no."
I think the best ones are where the boyfriend / husband believes everything is just perfectly fine and nothing could ever go wrong or where the girl is completely unable to control herself even though she wants to.
The rape until she breaks ones can be fun too but sometimes I end up wanting the poor guy to save the girl. Usually they end with the girl broken and actively into it and the guy is so horrified he just walks away, thus proving his feelings weren't strong enough in the end and neither were hers. It's very subjective what will or will not work for you though even in a genre you generally can enjoy.

The girl is remodeled into slut, the guy could have saved her but did nothing, and his sister is pregnant with his baby because she's getting revenge and what she wants all at the same time. It's a warped and twisted sex-fest and it's fun.
I guess what I'm saying is, it's all very personal what we do and don't like but at the same time we're all going to run into a story we don't like despite it having fetishes we like. So we should just live and let live because our favorite genres aren't perfect either.

The point has been made before, but I think NTR causes people to rage because it hits closer to home than things like guro and/or tentacles because you're unlikely to run into that in your real life. Infidelity however is something that takes sex and rips it out of the comfort zone, and most people get confronted with it in some form or other.
The fact that the genre is so broad makes it inaccessible for most people I think. People are turned off because they ("accidentally") read a hardcore book and got traumatized. There are other titles in the genre that could be appreciated by a lot more folks.
Hey, maybe it might even encourage people in a relationship to spoil their respective other some more, because you'll know what's coming if you grow apart. ;)

I'm pretty warped myself I guess. I have a vivid imagination and I like to confront myself. I've had time to throw myself into the black pit that is hentai so not much really fazes me anymore, however I like that fiction has an impact on me in whatever way, and expands my views, character and mindset.
