I believe that this blank post is a representation of the importance of silence in our everyday lives. It could also be a representation of the sounds around all of us which cannot simply be quoted because of how it varies between person to person. John Cage once composed a piece titled 4'33" which involves four minutes and thirty three of 'silence' where the performer sits on stage quietly and does not do anything except look at this watch to see when each movement starts and ends. In reality, the main bulk of the piece is not to be considered silence, but it actually is supposed to consist of the sounds heard in the environment of the listener. I believe that this same act with John Cage used in this piece is related to what Crie is doing with his post.
