not too close,about 3 hours via shinkansen.i'm closer to tokyo(about an hour).but hell it's kyoto we're talking about,sooner or later i'm bound to be there for a vacation.

Long due update. The theme this time is winter~

I took most of those pics when i went on a joint vacation between Pharmacy and Psychology major in my University. We all went on a 3 days/2 nights trip to Kusatsu onsen, Gunma Prefecture. It was.....well, Awesome and sucks at the same time. Awesome because well, duh, it's onsen+ski+nice view+tasty foods. Sucks because it's winter and a tropical cat like me can't stand winter. So i ended up with runny nose and slight fever during the trip. And because of the fact that there's no mixed bath in the vicinity of the aforementioned onsen T_T.

For those who consider themselves good/pro in photography, you might notice that all my pics is kinda amateurish. Well, i am an amateur, i found that meddling with setting and all those gibberish is troublesome. Don't mock on the pics please, but positive comments and critics is always welcome. Just don't tell me to use manual settings.

For those curious about my set up, i use Nikon D40 and Nikon 18-200 lens and that's all.

Accepting request about the object/theme of the pics, as long as it's not too otaku-ish, makes sense, doable and it won't lead me to jail(photographing kids without parents' permission here could lead me to jail, so no loli-ish request please)

Btw, next up is "spring". With sakura and all the usuals.[/spoil]

Hi mnx I love your photos, if I have the courage to post my photography I'll ask you for your critic. I use a Canon XSi and I only have filters ( I'm too cheap lol).

I was wondering if you will be in Tokyo sometime? I would love to see the Gundam museum and the 1/1 RX-72-2, a night time photo would be lovely and awe aspiring.

Actually, i'm not in the position or level to criticize others, I myself still need some advices and such on my works.

About Tokyo, well, i will be in Tokyo a lot, because the company i'm going to work at is located in Tokyo area. So yes, given enough time, expect me to visit the must-sees(I consider the 1/1 Gundam statue a must see XD)

Awesome update. Just by looking at those, I feel like I've visited the places myself. Well, exaggerated as it is but believe me, I did. :) Though the food, the hot-pot in particular, only made me hungry and the shrines' staircases, for some reason, made me exhausted. Btw, the "object" that caught your attention, what exactly is that called (a fence)? As much as I would love to comment on all of your photos, my brain's already half dead as it is... In any case, your shots were pretty much decent enough (I suppose). I may not be interested in photography but it doesn't mean that I couldn't admire/appreciate looking at photos, especially scenic ones for that matter. :D (+rep)

Haha sorry for my tactlessness. Is it okay if I ask you questions in this thread? You will be working for a company in Tokyo wow that's every foreign otaku's dream come true. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of job do you have?

My job? i'm still a college student. Majoring in pharmacy, specializing in Biopharmacy. XD

It's actually not permanent work, just some sort of internship. I'll be working there for 1 month only, as a guest researcher. I'm supposed to work with their senior researcher and learning the ropes about their job. Honestly i have no idea what i'll be doing there precisely, but considering that this is Japanese working culture, i think i'm required to take a back seat, listen, learn and maybe pour some tea XD.

And Tokyo is not the place for my dream job, actually. Anime-related things aside, i REALLY hate Tokyo. It's too huge and crowdy for my taste. I'd choose Kyoto over Tokyo any day. You'll see why in my next set of pics update. And no, working in Japan is not even my dream. It's only one of the stepping stones to reach my dream 8D

I do have a good command of spoken Japanese(i have s knack for it). But my written Japanese is so horrible i often need my native/Chinese pals' assistance and/or my trusty electronic dictionary to understand difficult kanjis.

While i managed to get by just fine that way, i don't recommend doing it my way. Strengthen your basics(kanji, grammar etc.) first, the structures, tenses and convos. That is what you HAVE and BETTER do.

You really can't really rely on English here. i'd say only 20% of Japanese population understands passive English, and only about 5% of them are able to use it actively. Then again i live in the countryside, so my numbers might be crooked.

Biopharmacy? That's the first time I heard of that branch of pharmacy, sounds interesting.



I can relate to that dislike for crowded places, When I was in Pasay, Manila I found myself bumping into a lot of people and feeling squished while walking on the over pass. I prefer my smaller hometown.
