Double Standard for Age Of Consent?

I'll try and find the Bill Maher clip he talked about it in but in one of his comedic routines he was talking about how a school teacher was convicted of stat-rape for having sex with her 13 y/o student. He was of the opinion that she was being prosecuted too harshly as there is a difference in boys and girls that makes them ready for sex at different ages. His quote was; "Traumatized? He was traumatized by the experience? I wish I was so 'traumatized' at that age, I bet every guy here wishes they were 'traumatized like that."

Just something to mull over.

He does have a point there.

I don't believe in statutory rape. If the student is giving consent it's okay.
That aside, yes there is a double standard, always has been, probably always will. What's mostly happening nowadays is cherry picking.
I'm equal when it becomes me.

Sounds to me like some 13 year old is soaking in public attention after he had his way and is jucing it for all its worth. He's still a kid after all, attention goes to the head of even mature adults.

I think if there weren't laws against it, then there would be a more then a few instances of teachers easily seducing 13 year old boys. And despite what it may seem like hypothetically, I can imagine most of them would feel very violated and ashamed of what happed later on in life.

Only thing that bothers me about the Age of Consent is the lack of universiality. It needs to all be one age in every sate, and it really needs to be the same as the age of adulthood. I mean what is the point of having sex with a sixteen year old if you can't even look at picture of naked sixteen year olds? It seems like quite the double standard, to me.

But yeah, traumatized? I wish I was traumatized then. ^_^;;

Seems to be that most people have the perception of a female teacher who has had sexual intercourse with a young boy to be an attractive young woman, but I doubt that is the situation in most cases. I would be inclined to believe that the female teacher was an "old hag" and the male student was genuinely traumatized.

Yeah, it often occurs that when a male rapes/molests an underage girl it is acted upon harshly however with a switch of genders the female tends to be persecuted less harshly, with minimal sentences for in a lot of cases. I'd say that the difference in the harshness of the punishment is linked to the fact that the female child would generally suffer more, she can get pregnant, injured internally, etc whereas not much displeasure from a male child, although he may be forever traumatized and have a fear of old women.

I believe in the double standard. It's just different.

Also, I don't know about the old hag thing. Mary-Kay Laterno was fucking sexy.

I'd like to look at the circumstances before jumping to conclusions. There've been cases when the parties involved were in love, or at least had a consensual relationship, meanwhile there've been other cases where the student was being led around by the teacher and being pulled into some shit they shouldn't be pulled into.

All of this reminds of a dream I had just last night that involved me doing it with my 5th grade teacher... And that's not something I want to dream about again *shudders*

I had a dream a few yeas ago where I was doing my school's scretary.

I woke up in fear the second I realized it. Now I never want to dream again.

"That 30 yr old Teacher had sex with that 15 yr old girl! HANG HIM!" As opposed to, " That 30 yr old Teacher had sex with that 15 yr old boy? Nice!" Yeah, our laws regarding legal age need to be changed to represent what most people think about sex. Maybe we could lower it to 16? I am not going to hold my breath though.

The differences in standard between genders will continue to exist, regardless.
The double standard is there, but I feel for a logic reason.

A 13 year old boy having sex, even if it's with an old hag, would feel pleasure. Leaving the psychological factor aside (Let's treat it as consensual).

A 13 year old girl, however, would feel lots of pain. (I guess it's safe to presume she is a virgin). Pain would leave a great mental scar in people generally.

And comparing a male and a female, a female is normally deemed as a 'weaker' gender in terms of physiques. Therefore people would be more protective towards the females.

Stuff about equality between guys and girls do not exist.

Seriously. At 15 I would've thought I'd died and gone to heaven if I'd had sex with her. I know that they have to dole out some punishment (and for stat rape I guess a year is pretty mild, but she still has to register?) but come on...a 15y/o is more than capable of consenting if he's approached by someone like this.

Thought I give my thoughts on this subject. Equality among the genders is feminist fiction. If that were true we wouldn't have two different kinds of restroom rooms.

There is some merit in what Bill Maher says. He's not only right about us guys wishing we were "traumatized" like that(hence the immortal line "where were these women when I was a teen?") but also about boys being ready for sex before girls. A male having intercourse with a female still going through puberty could result in pregnancy risking medical complications, as an underdeveloped pelvis can lead to difficulties in childbirth. That pretty much screams they are not really for sex until they are finished with puberty. Of course this would not have such a problem with the reversal.

This is a valid reason for a double standard where we treat males who act on their hebephilic desires more harshly than females.

I do think that boys reach a certain sexual maturity earlier than girls. Maybe not entirely physical (although that's a fair point too) but mental. I agree with Bill on the particular point that I too would love to be traumatized like that at age thirteen. I always think that girls who are infatuated with older men are only looking for the romantic side in that relationship and would probably detest the thought of having sex. Exept perhaps with girls like in the novel/film Lolita. But I dunno...

This is another point that makes me think men and women should not be treated exactly alike. I'm not saying we are entirely different, mind you, but in some instances, our scopes may require adjusting. Like some people pointed out, if it was a girl, there would probably be some physical pain but since it's a boy, this has «Are you trying to seduce me, Mrs. Robbinson» written all over it.

Yeah, have you ever heard of a woman saying such a thing? To them it's creepy.



Oh, you do have your exceptions like this one. I think guys in these types of cases should be been let off the hook due to the blatant non-predatory nature and apparent sexual maturity of the girl.



Yeah, I think women who fuck boys 13+ year olds should be a misdemeanor. Males with girls still going through puberty should be a felony with registry.
