PLEASE tell me you are not comparing the Higgs Boson to ghosts. One is supported by science, math, and has plausibly measurable/observable behavior, and the other is a work of pure fiction.

Money. My point over and over again has been money. Only the military is rich enough to make use of it, besides a couple of banksters who are probably apathetic about the product itself.

I really didn't pay any attention to the discussion. The only thing I was focused on is the discovery of the Higgs boson.

If you're bitching about anything, and have any thing to do with the Higgs boson, you need to to get your shit straight.

The discovery itself is neutral. I never said bad thing.

You seem to have some missconception abouth the army . First , they are not rich , they are not a business , it's the governement that take care of the millitary and decides what the millitary is doign . But still you're right , it's the millitary that would benefit from it at first , like every new technology . The reason is that the government think that the most important thing to keep updated is the army for the simple reason that they want to protect at best the population .

Yes they would benefit from it first but like everything else too , it would soon after benefit the population . You know how many people have been saved from cancer or got their life extended because of the research on the A-bomb ? You know how many people didn't die because the A-bomb stoped the war ?.. You can see the A-bomb as a mass killing machine but in fact , it saved more lives that it killed since it was created ...

Why is it you think that Higgs Boson will STILL be used negatively when it STILL has no real use?

Maybe he/she is just referring to the "idiots" that will get their hands on such discoveries and use it to their advantage, which I find it to be nonsense .... however I agree with you like everyone else ... we have yet to realize it's potential so we cannot assume of how it will be of some use.
